Hmm... I like the new Staind song but it is a DEFINITE example of a band selling out. Listen to their first albums. Hell, even listen to "Break The Cycle"... then listen to the new album. Aaron Lewis produced an album where every song sounds the same. The worst part though is that most have that "acoustic song with catchy chorus" feel that "Outside" and "It's Been A While".

Now don't get me wrong, I like Staind. I like SOAD and Tool also. I'm just saying that Staind sold out just as much as Metallica did.

BTW... what in the world is this thread about anyway? lol

I don't know where I'm coming from
well, it was about high schoolers and their obsession with music, but it erupted into yet another Metallica discussion. Fine by me.

I like the new Staind, but it can't touch the older stuff. Hey, at least they don't have those annoying drums like St. Anger.

well seeing as I didn't mention any artists in my post accually, for anyone wanting to get into this genre here are some good artists/cds to start with:

Orbital- the middle of nowhere : excellent cd lots of dancable stuff and just generally awesome intellegent music

The Orb- The Orb's Adventures beyond The Ultraworld : really trippy and out there music with 1 dancable song on the 2 disk set. I mainly just listen to this stuff anyway

Boards of Canada- Music has the Right to Children : very slow, ambiant disk with kindof dronelike sythns backed by beats. I like it alot.

Amon Tobin- (anything by him) : oh man, this guy is awesome. quite unlike anything else. very very layered and just..... kick ass.

Dhizan and Kamien- Gran Riserva : I just got this cd and it is definately suited to both dancing AND chilling out. definately worth picking up even if your not into electronic so much.

Also a great cd is "This is Acid Jazz Volume Six : The Golden Age of Groove" its all acid jazz which is a fusion of both uhh.. jazz and electronic. very good and great for a party.

Time for dinner... remember that is just a place to start there is alot of great electronic out there. check out www.somafm.com (secret agent station) and www.bassdrive.com (kickass drum and bass music station). www.allmusic.com is a great resourse, as well.

Metallica was good in Reload too but not as good as what they were. St. Anger truly is sh1t but I think 99% of all Metallica fans agree.

I used to hate St. Anger but now it's actually awesome.

I like "Invisible Kid" until the part where James starts crooning, and I like "Frantic" which is a great song.

I'm in the same realm as you on that album. Watch the DVD live performance sometime if you haven't already. The James crooning part is better.

Must... get... back on topic.

Falcon - Rap/R+B is the most recognized music genere in america... pop was about a yr and a half ago then it transitioned. I don't know where you live, but all our radio stations [top 40's and popular listening stations] play about 40%rap 25% pop 15% dance and 20% other.

Rap touches your soul? Which songs? I LOVE:

DMX & Faith Evans - Baby It'll be ok and DMX - My Niggas

Just to name 2 ;).

Vampir/Cetti/Mike - I'm gonna DL those artists ya'all named ;). Dancing to teckno/trance/dance music RULES. If you have a file sharing program then DL:

ERIC RAVE DANCE

Its like 59k kilobites, its the most unbelievable dancing I've ever seen!

Anybody here litsen to Ska?

Ska punk is great! Its punk rock but with creativity (trumpets, accordiens, cymbels, even bag pipes sometimes).

I met a girl in a cold pick up that loves MxPx just as much as I do, But I didn't go for the number instead I went for the email address and now I can't even read what she wrote (stupid stupid!).

Its hard to find a pretty girl that shares your interest in music! DAMN IT!!!!

I;ve never even heard of that but it sounds cool. the only band that may even be close to that that i can think of is Cake becuase they use a trumpet in almost every song. But they aren't really a punk band so they wouldn't fit in there. As far as favorite bands mine is Radiohead because most of there music is fairly textured and you notice different things each time you listen to them.

Long Beach Dub Allstars

Sublime

Some smooth sh*t. It's a ska/punk style that originated in Long Beach. I love this type of music.

Apocalyptica

These guys are tight. They're mostly Metallica music played in orchestra (no vocals). Songs that I really hated from Metallica sound awesome from these guys. "Hope Vol. 2" "Fade To Black" "One" "Until It Sleeps" are a few of my favorites, but I have yet to dislike any of their songs.

There's three true genius bands in the history of rock and roll: Stooges, Pixies, and the Birthday Party :p

I don't know what it is I said to make insult me the way you did, but such immaturity won't be tolerated on these boards.
