one cd that helped me alot was the new papa roach - getting away with murder, classical music also helps alot. just wanting to hear some opinions, cauze music really helps sometimes.

fvck papa roach. music like that is not actually good in any respect and should be avoided, so if you have to listen to it do it right. I'm thinking Korn, issues. all the bands sound the same, but issues it really angry. I listened to it in my car for a week and it REALLY helped.

But like I said, avoid that stuff if at all possible. Check out stereophonics, coldplay is good, ben harper, oasis etc. Good music.

The worst music is something slow or depressing as it will put you in a miserable state where you'll sit and reflect on your pain.

Circus music, happy hardcore or anything stupid and meaningless, on the other hand, should provide a good distraction and a happier mood. Or, alternatively, try listening to music that brings back pleasant memories before the break up, like stuff you were listening to as a teenager.

A good NLP exercise I've learnt for dealing with painful memories or phobias, is to play them back in your mind to a silly soundtrack. It does work quite effectively.
