It seems like every time I see a girl I want to talk to (usually on the bus), she's always listening to an MP3 player. Do you guys usually bother in these instances? Because the way I see it, she won't hear me the first time, and so she'll have to take them off...and possibly just be annoyed from the beginning? haha I don't know, what do you guys usually do?

Ask what she is listening to.

Dude you won't believe most of my pickups have been on the running track, when they are freaking running round and round listening to their IPod music. I have stopped doing that now cuz it saps a ton of energy from myself.

But here is my technical advice on HOW TO HANDLE GIRLS WITH MP3 PLAYERS:

1. Open them with a curious look on your face. Also, try to open over shoulder.
2. Throw out a question. Don't ask to ask a question. Just throw it out.
3. Most of the times, if steps 1 & 2 are properly done, they will take off or stop their mp3 players.
4. Repeat the question and follow 90-10 rule, until they start smiling and sending IOIs.

Thanks, I'll do that. I have nothing to lose, right?

Hm, well Im usually reading a free newspaper on the bus. Last time I folded the paper together and pointed to her towards it as if she wanted it. She said "yes please" when she reached out to grab it I pulled back to tease her :p

Anyways, I'm not picking up women out in the cold anymore but it seemed like it worked good. If she was wearing headphones I'd just ask her if she wanted it and then pull back and after she got the paper I'd start to talk to her to see if she would start to read the paper (not interested) or continue talking.

I used to always find these girls to be anti social as all hell, but think of it this way.

Does the girl sitting alone at a table in the cafeteria reading a book/doing homework not want to be spoken to? If you watch closely, she'll often look up to see if anyone might be thinking about sitting down with her. I've interrupted and felt like I was being very bothersome to many girls who were doing homework, and it turns out they are starved for conversation.

I mean if they really had to do homework, they'd be at their house, alone, locked in a room. Or at the library in one of those "quiet rooms". She's just passing time and you can help her pass the time.

Think of your voice as the new soundtrack to her day. She may enjoy whatever music she's listening to, but she could just as equally enjoy your voice.

What I do is when I'm reading a paper on a train next to a girl I'll point to an outrageous article and say "look at this. listen to this 'read headline'" and get her involved while joking about some of the silly things in the news.

In a seated setting (bus, restaurant, coffee shop) - take out a piece of paper, draw a tic tac toe, pass it to her, if she is cool.. she'll play along. Finally let her win, and she'll be willing to break the ice with you.

Don't always be the one putting yourself out for her. Don't always be the one putting all the effort and work into the relationship. Let her, and expect her, to treat you as well as you treat her, and to improve the quality of your life.
