We often think of rituals which signal that you have become a man (shaving for the first time, your first girlfriend) but what about movies? what are the movies that can help you on your path to becoming a man? movies that can help you learn the ways of a man?

SCARFACE (Al Pacino, 1983): What can I say that hasnt already said? Al Pacino is to movies what Michael Angelo is to art. Every other worthless actor/actress in this day an age should be shining the man's shoes. Actors these days are more hollywood tabloid material than true to the heart actors such as Pacino, De Niro, Brando etc.

What more can be said? Al Pacino @#%$# unbelievable in this movie. He should have won 20 oscars and then they should have closed the academy! He gives the performance of his life. Inspiring, dramatic, over the top, unbelievable.

THE LESSONS FOR MEN OF THIS MOVIE

ANY MAN CAN MAKE IT, IF HE HAS THE BALLS AND WILL TO DO IT
This is something we should all hold dear. Balls and Will are the most important things that a man really needs to succeed. But in this day an age a man is not supposed to have balls and a strong will (thanks to our feminist media/educational system).

THE WORLD TREATS YOU LIKE GARBAGE, FIGHT BACK
So many people complain about their personal problems through the net yet I say "So here you are chatting through your computer in your house, sitting on a chair, while millions of kids have never even seen a computer because they are so poor" next time you feel depressed and bummed out think about that. Tony Montana is an example of a man that came from nothing and had nothing. He had more problems than most of us dreamed of. He was no different than so many out there who have nothing. That is why I never complain even though life has treated me like garbage. Good things come to those that fight back.

TAKE CARE OF YOUR FAMILY
Achieving the american dream should not be just for yourself. As the movie shows, Tony Montana goes back to visit his family and spread the wealth to his poor family (even though his mom refuses). Nevertheless, never forget who you are, never forget your blood. Taking care of your family should be a man's top priority. If you make it, don't get greedy.

Tony Montana is the brutal realistic portrayal of a man that was nothing, a man that wants the american dream bad and nothing can hold him back. His mentality is only shared by so many successful people out there. This is the mentality we all need to have. The world can be yours if you put your mind to it and work your butt off, but more importantly fear nothing and have balls.

Jailhouse Rock.

Seriously! This is NOT LIKE Elvis Presley's other films. This one was made in 1957, before "beach" movies became all the rage and before he went to the army. He plays a man who gets sent to the pen and comes out hardened to people, and he trusts NO ONE. He meets up with Judy Tyler and THAT is when he demonstartes some RAGING DJ skills! It has some great songs also! CHECK IT OUT!

Calm down Centaur Boy. While I do agree that fight club is not as good as scarface and the godfather and such, its still a damn good movie. So what if Pitt played in it? He did a very good job compared to his other movies, don't be so damn biased and see the story for what it is.

Mr. Unique, Troy wasnt all that great. There were some moments when the movie had passion, but it was ruined! It had Orlando Bloom! That little **********. And Brad Pitt played average in the movie, nothing spectacular.

And the Matrix! You better be talking about the original.

The first four bond movies by Sean Connery particularly are perhaps the best examples of an alpha male at his peak.

I liked Pierce a lot...atleast before I found out about how great Sean Connery's on-screen charisma was. Pierce also said that a lot of his Bond personality is derived from Connery himself. But nonetheless, Pierce is still okay with me. I'm just a little worried with this new guy... he seems a bit too serious... but then again, I am sort of biased in thinking that Sean Connery was and will be forever the only and greatest perfect Bond ever. :D

Anywho, even though this movie got a lot of bad ratings, I liked it a lot because of the main character: The Transporter. The sequel was pretty bad in my opinion, and the main character's true alphaness show's a lot better in the first.

The city that sleeps. Sometimes.
you guys mentioned a lot of stuff already..

one movie that hasn't been mentioned yet is Layer Cake. Awesome movie, but you're probably gonna want to have your subtitles on, because half the times you can't understand what the damn brits are saying.

Alot of people watch Fight Club just because Tyler Durden is the perfect demonstration of the alpha male, yeah he is the alpha male, I guess that's why they put this movie down as movies every man should watch or movies that portray a perfect DJ or whatever.

But Fight Club deserves the praise, for being a damn good movie that criticises society's faults. Also the fact that the idea was pretty bizarre.

My Movies that Every Man should watch...
Godfather trilogy (that quote by Brando some thing about a "Real man spends time with his family... nice)
Scarface, its not just the character, but I think the thread starter already stated everything needed to be said.
Hitch is good in the beginning, but just lost it towards the end.
