I'll be heading up there for a few days. Does anyone know what are some cool places to hit up? In particular, where are can I find the pretty ladies? Oh and my French is pretty much non-existent. Is that going to be an issue?

Unless you look like or act like a euro pvssy with lots of $$, you have close to no chance with the HOTTEST girls in Montreal (I've tried, and failed, so I speak from experience).............your best bet is to hit on girls who are cute and friendly, but not hot and bytchy-looking (you know what I mean).

And bars are much better than clubs for that to happen.........also, nothing wrong with getting a $10 handjob from a hot stripper at any of the strip clubs on St. Catherine St.

Studenty, less pretentious bars and clubs are around the St. Laurent strip. If you like the bar scene check out the massive patio at St Sulpice (St denis below Sherbrooke.) Crescent is more of a flashy tourist spot, you'll meet more out-of-towners there. If you want to go the stripper route then I guess you could -- walk around near downtown (or just east of it) for some joints.

1234, 737, and opera are clubs that cater to that actual typical club scene if that's your bag. I'd take 1234 or Opera over 737 though, just better atmospheres. Also lately some friends have been hitting La Boom for the girls there, I haven't been in ages so I can only mention it, not recommend it.

I don't find girls uptight or anything here but then again I've lived here a while so I guess I'm not outside looking in. Enjoy.

I live in montreal, Love it here; although I've never been into the "clubbin" scene.

St. Laurent area and Crecent have both been named numerous times, I agree wholeheartedly. crecent is slightly less pretentious, and less expensive, but more of a "bar/lounge" attitude.

My 2 cents: depending on which mood you are in, hit one, then take a cab to the other street. start from the south of crecent starting from rene-levesque, and head all the way up to sherbrooke, stop in any nice clubs.

Russian immigrants in Montreal?? Are you crazy? Montreal is made up of mostly French, Italians, Lebanese, Greeks, Portuguese, Haitians, and some Jews. The Italians are mixed with French, Lebanese, Greek, Irish blood for the most part these days. Montreal never had a large East European or German immigrant pool. If you want Italians and East Europeans go to Brazil. The Italians in Montreal barely speak any Italian.

actually BigJim's not far off. Don't know too many russians or germans (know a few germans though) it's REALLY multicultural here, and even if the girls do not speak english well, you can get a convo going.
