T-nation is the sh1t!

Why does everyone think if they mix two supplements that they'll create some super supplement that will make them faster than the flash and stronger than superman? There's some good articles on t-nation about no-xplode too. If you insist on taking no-xplode than take it pre-workout on an empty stomach. It will absorb faster which is what you want to give you that high or "pump". Take a whey shake and eat a meal after your workout. DON'T MIX THEM.

Re:

I buy muscle milk and mix it with whey. 1.5 scoops of muscle milk, 1.5 scoops of whey = 60 grams. I got into buying it years ago, and have loved their tastes since. I suppose I could up the volume and buy from a major protein site as DC advocates, but I haven't switched over, and I prefer food for the rest of my diet. Normally I have a PS in the morning with oatmeal and whenever I'm on the go...The other meals consist of 9 eggs, or 3 turkey patties, or a whole tub of cottage cheese, all with vegetables and/or whole grain rice. Per serving the protein powders are cheaper than food, even if it's 30 per tub.

I can't comment on NOXPLODE, and my belief in supplements is that their benefit comes from long-range usage, and not just a weekly dosage. Creatine doesn't work wonders in a day. Protein can't pack muscle on in a day. And multivitamins don't increase strength or health in a day. I'm not sure what all the rage is, but supplements are supplements because they're less potent, and therefore require more long-range consumption to have any effect. If you buy one, I would committ a minimum of two monts to using it. An old supplement store owner who pushed prohormones before they were illegal had much success with them, but it often took a minimum of 2 months straight consumption, coupled with the higher than recommended doses to achieve measurable gains.

That's EXACTLY what I do when I'm not being a cheapskate and only buying unflavoured whey.. I throw in a few eggs too.

This is a great way to keep some flavour in your shakes fairly cheaply. The plain whey is so bland that it barely affects the flavour of the muscle milk and your good-tasting stuff lasts twice as long.

Damn you Americans for having Muscle Milk available cheaply.. I can't wait to move to the states. :D

ps - A-Unit, your diet looks very much like mine, only I have beef instead of turkey. ;)

Re:

Perhaps...? I very much follow IA/DC's principles for diet and nutrition. I aim to get 60 grams of protein per meal by 5 meals. Meals around lifting, I eat whole grain rice. I include some vegetables at most meals. I think this eating is actually CHEAPER than trying to buy like so many other people. I can carry out most of what I need in a handbasket, while most people need carriages each week or 2 weeks.

I aim to get fat. I'm not a super stickler on consumption, so long as I get what I need and I'm not starving myself, and my strength is going up in the gym, I feel fine. I eat peanutbutter on rice cakes, or apples, or just alone. I'll drink olive oil straight or UDO's oil straight. Muscle milk has fat. I cook most things on a Foreman grill, which decreases some of the fat and grease.

Let me if you have any cheap ideas that provide massive protein, such as...

Tubs of Cottage cheese (No Fat for me, when it comes to dairy) $1.29
Package of 12 Turkey patties = $4.99 lasts about 4 days, so I buy 2.
1 dozen eggs = $.88 VERY CHEAP, I buy 10 at a time for about a week or so. That's $8? and lasts...2 weeks worth.
Protein Powder.

I haven't done Tuna in awhile; the taste is quite harsh, both on the fingers, semen, and breath. But I would if there's a good meal.

Kudos to Lifting!

You've got it covered man.. With beef I buy the frozen ground stuff, there's often a 2-for-1 on the 90% beef, I cook this and rinse and then make chili or whatever.

Same with chicken although it's rarely marked down. I actually buy the breasts which are injected with water.. yes I need to eat more of them to get my protein in but it's STILL cheaper than buying the premium breasts. A bit of water and salt doesn't bother me.

Chicken LEGS are dirt cheap and protein-rich. Same for thighs. There's often a two-for-one on a thigh/drumstick mix here.. it's good for two meals at least. I bake the whole batch and eat half of it warm and the other half cold the next day or whenever.

Eggs are twice the price here as they are in the US but I still eat about 5 dozen a week.

Peanut butter's a favourite for a very cheap source of cals, fat and protein.

Tuna is dirt cheap but only for when your girlfriend's away.. lol. If you want a pro/fat meal, look into making your own mayo (no sugar) with chili or garlic.. or make a tuna scramble with eggs. Or of course, the tuna shake with diet coke. lol.

What about sardines, mackerel? They're usually fairly cheap and full of omega-3's.

Otherwise I just go to the store late at night and find as much meat as possible which has been marked down, and freeze it. It's still good.

Any reason you don't have red meat? I find growth after a certain point, impossible without it. (I'm not saying that people can't build a great body on chicken and fish, they can.. but for some serious size those don't really cut it)

if you want really cheap chicken, learn to cut up & freeze whole chickens. there's few things quite as satisfying as taking a cleaver or big chef's knife right through chicken bone

i can crib some notes together sometime just for kicks. the beauty is that you get all the parts AND you can cook down the carcass for real broth (not that salty canned bullpiss). 'round here i can get a whole, non-broth injected chicken for as low as $0.99/lb. at times though I'm sure you pay more in the UK & elsewhere.

cheese can get expensive and high in fat, but i like getting blocks of part skim mozarella. you can cut off your own chunks, then pull it apart like string cheese if that's your thing.

i know WBA's not a fan, but you're not worried about getting fat, so..... I go through a whole lot of skim milk. lots of casein protein.
