For most people, and all women, the standard definition of a misogynist=a guy who does not accept all of feminism's dogma and verbalizes any descention.

I thought a misogynist was someone who hates women

That is what it is, and that is the working definition as it is used here as well.

It isn't that hard to understand, and it isn't that big of a word or concept either. Keep it real.

A typical modern liberated strong independent (anything else?) woman always calls a guy who criticizes her a misogynist, when the fact is that he probably just doesn't like her, but likes other women. :D

Just an aside, there is plenty on this forum about buying flowers and writing love songs/poems/letters etc.

I'd like an answer to Rollo's question. Can the OP remember the first time he heard this term.

For myself it's been very interesting to wonder where some of the beliefs I had when I was forming my identity came from way back when. They were from "out there".

I think I shared the story once of being in sixth grade and giving this girl I had a huge crush on (never spoken to her before) a long love letter that probably scared the crap out of her. Now I don't remember where I got that idea. It was the "right thing to do". I must have seen it in a tv show, or maybe some classmates I knew had done the same thing. Not sure.

when you get good at this stuff, you learn to appreciate why women have these wierd autopilot responses. you go from being frustrated to realizing all that behavior has a purpose. and once you understand it, it becomes amusing, not something to get pissed at
I agree with this. It's almost like you're watching a remake of a movie, you know what the next scene is but each girl plays it in a slightly different way.

Misogynist: A man who hates women as much as women hate one another.

Misogynistic as a word is a joke.

It is often used by feminists to describe ALL MEN who are not doctrine in the feminist movement or philosophy. It is also a word used to strip POWER away from a man.

A feminist will label a Don Juan a Misogynist simply due to the fact that he dates many women and thus has POWER over women. He stops being a Misogynist once he agrees to go into LTR with one woman and ultimately marries her . However he becomes a Misogynist once again if he doesn't agree to 50-50 power sharing in a relationship (and eventually allows the woman to take over). Its a lose-lose situation for a man. You are either labled a Misogynist or you don't have any power.

In conclusion you know you are not a Misogynist (in the eyes of feminists) when you are a CHUMP.

You essentially upped your VALUE in her eyes by showing her that, if she wants you, she has to at times do things that you like to do. You are SOMETHING after all. You are NOT FREE. If she wants to hang with you, it's going to cost her something — time, effort, money.

When I was younger I knew what a misogynist was and dammit I let the girls know that I wasn't one. Of course if they had told me they preferred misogynists, who knows what would have happened.

To answer Rollo's question, I used the dictionary.com definition:

hatred, dislike, or mistrust of women.

And if you really want to know where I first heard the word, I heard it when I was 15 and studying for the SAT with a vocabulary book.

I'm not saying that the men of SoSuave think that women should be in the kitchen pregnant and barefoot until they hit menopause. I'm saying that there's a lot of bitterness in the posts.

Well if it includes mistrust, I'd say 99% of the guys here are misogynists, with you as the exception. That's an awfully general description.

Quick! What's the female version of this word?

The point is challenge any female behavior and you are labeled a misogynist. Just because you dislike typical female behavior, or you see human nature for what it is, or you generalize female behavior, that does not mean you hate women or are bitter. Besides there's nothing wrong with being a misogynist anyway when females are out of their place and behaving poorly oftentimes. The only thing wrong with being a "misogynist" is if you verbalize it to a woman you are trying to attract. That won't work. But to even say it's wrong to be a "misogynist" here and among fellow guys is a little ridiculous and PC IMO.

Yeah really. Why don't we ask how many women on here are misandrogist or are on LS? Anytime you hear a female labeling someone a misogynist you can be pretty sure it's kettle calling the pot black.

Don't always be the one putting yourself out for her. Don't always be the one putting all the effort and work into the relationship. Let her, and expect her, to treat you as well as you treat her, and to improve the quality of your life.

misandrogist--is that it? I've never heard that before. You can't really say feminist because that has a "positive" aspect to it (equal pay, whatever).

OP--did you just notice that word or was the word a part of one of your exercises?

It's "misandry / misandrist" - the hatred of men.

And that includes most women, too. Generally, men trust women way more than women trust other women.

lots of hallucinations in this post. The OP only used the word to describe MOST of what is on whymenarebetterthanwomen.com or whatever the sight is. His only point was that there is a lot of bitterness on this sight towords women, which he reiterated above, and that there are lot of good women out there. You are allowed to say NEXT to a girl if you don't like her, you know.

Of course, it all boils down to taking responsibility for your life versus blaming the world for your problems. Sure there are lot of evil conniving beeeactches out there, men AND women. learn to recognize them early and move on.

As for rollos original "thought provoking" question. We've ALL been misled to a LARGE degree. Question is, what the fukk are you going to do about it?
Are you gonna figure out what works, and use whatever model of reality is a best fit to get you what you want in life? or are you gonna sit back and complain on an internet message board? Life is too short to whine.

"The leads are weak!"
"YOU"RE WEAK!" to quote part of Chrisz's sig.

Yeah misandrist was the word. My mistake. You see and hear the word so little that it's not as familar as misogynist is :D .

Yes, but you are totally missing the points that men are often incorrectly labeled misogynist/bitter while the female counterpart is labeled just being normal or a feminist at worst, and men have more good cause to be "misogynist" than women have for their constant complaints. Yours and the OP's message needs to be directed more at women than it does men. Oh that's right, doing that would be acting like a bitter misogynist.

It doesn't matter how good-looking you are, how romantic you are, how funny you are... or anything else. If she doesn't have something INVESTED in you and the relationship, preferably quite a LOT invested, she'll dump you, without even the slightest hesitation, as soon as someone a little more "interesting" comes along.
