STRAHAN OWES WIFE $15.3M
By JEANNE MacINTOSH

January 12, 2007 -- A judge sacked Michael Strahan’s bank account Friday, ordering the Giants defensive end to pay his ex-wife Jean a whopping $15.3 million, plus hundreds of thousands in child support, as part of their divorce, according to a decision released today.

Essex County New Jersey Judge James Convery blasted Strahan in the written ruling, saying that the arguments he gave to get out of paying up lacked "any credible evidence."

Convery held the gapped toothed-grid great to the letter of a pre nuptial agreement he signed with his wife, in which he agreed to pay her 20-percent of his assets for each year of their marriage and give her half of his total assets.

Strahan tried to argue that he wasn’t responsible for the 20 percent because she failed to ask for it every year. But the judge said, "The plaintiff is not credible in his claim that the defendant never asked for her separate funds."

Jean Strahan had originally been seeking roughly $14 million, but the judge gave her back interest on the 20 percent annuity, raising the expected payout by $1.25 to over $15 million.

The Giant will also have to pay $18,000 per month in child support, and will have to hand over a $311,150 lump sum for support dating back to August 2005.

Reps for the couple could not immediately be reached for comment.

Let's do the math, 18 times 12 that's $216,000 a yr. TAX FREE!!! Isn't 216,000 in that CEO realm of income? It doesn't take $216,000 a yr to raise a child. How do the courts justify ordering $18,000 child support on top of a 15 million dollar divorce settlement? Under normal circumstances this would be robbery and extortion. If it's about the kids quality of life why wasn't Strahan given custody of the kids?

I have to ask these questions. Who did the former Mrs. Strahan tackle? Who did she sack? What plays did she memorize? At night did the former Mrs. Strahan review tape with Mike to see the holes in the Eagles offensive line? When it comes to celebrities, these divorce settlements are asburd and opression. Women are being awarded for basically doing their wifely duties. And at that level it's fair to say that these women aren't even cooking and cleaning. This is a travesty and it needs to stop. So much for women being "equal" and "independent."

Man... that's just sad to hear.

Strahan's a class act. He's a role model to aspiring NFL players. It's not like he's a Bobby Brown druggie, or an arrogant, T.O. type. No, he didn't murder anyone... and the Giants fans LOVE this guy. I just can't believe that this would happen to a guy like himself.
I guess people's true colors really do shine through when the money starts stacking. Which means his ex-wife is scum, and she doesn't deserve merely a penny of what she's getting. Max Rex is right on in this, here's a court room taking the earnings of a decent man's LIFE work.
Sad man, reeeaaallllly sad.

I usually don't care too much for news, but this.... THIS.... is just low.

Meh... it's not like it's putting him on the street or really hurting him financially in any way. He's got millions and millions more where that came from. Sure it sucks from a principle standpoint, but don't let the numbers fool you into thinking Michael is going to be poor after this judgment.

Do not be too easy. If you are too easy to get, she will not want you. If you are too easy to keep, she will lose interest in you. If you are too easy to control, she will not respect you.

I dont think thats really the point. In what way does his wife need $18,000 a month in child support, on top of the 13.5 million shes going to get? Fvck the world.

I could be wrong, but wouldn't a corporation protect you from something like this?

(on the grounds that corporate assets couldn't be siezed like personal assets since they belong to a separate entity)

I think child support is based generally upon income...

I know people who are to pay 1,000 plus, where others owe less than 200.

But he signed the agreement, his fault.

I was wondering if someone was going to start a thread on this story.

Somebody needs to fire their attorney. What was the point of giving her over half his assets in the prenup?

If you're a millionaire, you really have to think straight and not let "love" get in the picture.. especially when it comes to marriage. otherwise, you'll be in an ****ed-up situation like this nfl player. if i were a millionaire, i would not get married.

Or I'd get married and make sure she doesn't get any of my money...

No alimony. If we have kids, I'd get custody, no prenup agreements saying she can have millions...

Thats very possible.

The point is not how much that money's really worth to Strahan - we already understand that the man has a lot more stashed away, along with another 5-10 more years worth of league income. That's a given.

What I'M saying is, why and how does the broad deserve that much? What was it that she did that earned her such a reward? What value did she reeeeally bring to the table that earned her such favor? Okay, she married the guy? You know how many chicks would line up to get down with a professional NFL playing, $5 million a year player? How many chicks would kill they mommas to move in to Strahan's mansion and live like a queen? For that matter, why and what would she leave that lifestyle for?

But then again... I wouldn't be surprised if it's because Strahan was cheatin on her. Buck-toothed homie got some game, nahmean? :D

She doesn't; neither of them do. That's my point. This thread was turning (and started as, really) nothing more than a cesspool of bitter misogynists for a stupid reason. There's too much of this crap on this forum.

Good call.

Though it should be said that the financial legal rules around marriage are not easily fixed. It's not just how much she contributed to the marriage, or how much it costs to raise the kids... there's probably something there about being USED to that level of income.

We accept that a guy who puts his hand on the ground, runs around another guy and tackles another guy some fifty times a year is somehow worth several million dollars a year. Is this stuff any weirder?
