Hey eveyone.. first time poster here...

I went shopping at the mall yesterday and was browsing at an electronics store when I ran into a former co-worker (from another workplace) who is a salesgirl there now. I didnt notice at first but she recognized me and we started talking.

Suddenly, my phone rings and I pick up my cell... it was my mom calling about some errands... I quickly answer her, hang up, and continue talking to the girl. Going by some advice I picked up on these boards, I tried to let her talk as much as possible, while asking questions and being interested in what she has to say. I also try the eye contact thing but I'm still a novice at that.
We talk for a bit more.

I got her number... I was nervous inside but I managed to say it without stammering. She didnt ask for mine. I told her I would love to catch up sometime but I had to get going. She smiled and I said bye and left.
----

did I scrw it up by answering my phone halfway? also I am really bad at conversation, I just smile and I really enjoy talking to her... if some of you can give me some help/opinions it would be greatly appreciated :)

a little about myself... I'm currently single, just out of school... this girl, me and my ex-gf all used to work at the same restaurant before. She knew I was with my ex-gf, but she doesnt know we already broke up.

No you didn't screw up. It's ok to pick up a phone during a conversation, especially when it's important.

Just a simple apology for the phone interference will suffice right after. And just go back "So, where were we?... " or .. "About what you just said..."

If you're bad a convos, try using what you've learnt about her and FOLLOWING up with what she said next time you meet her.

There is nothing wrong in answering phone during conversation, anyway Its your chance to drop her a message, since you got her number. Reason enough to talk to her again and Tell her you were sorry for answering the phone during your conversation with her, then ask her out. ;)
