I’m always hearing about how men like to chase and will lose interest in a woman who doesn’t make him chase. And this belief apparently is perpetuated by some men, not just women.

What do you all think about this belief? And what are the consequences to women and men as a result?

I believe that we confuse the cause with the conseguence.

It's not that men like the chase, its that men like attractive high value women and they usually needs some effort to be taken.

On the other side, low value women give themselves fast cause they have nothing else to offer and men drop them right after for that same reason.

1st the women initiates the interest and attraction. Then she seduces the man indirectly, to keep the alive the illusion that she is the prize to be won.

And the man being so full of himself actually beliefs he is chasing the women when in fact it's the opposite.

Well that's 90% of men...

The remaining 10% of men knows the game well.

Women have more incentive (original curse, resources, social pressure) to chase. Once they start, they have a hard time giving up.

Once you establish social proof, sit back and enjoy the show!:p

Its not a gender thing.

People lose interest in anything that comes too easy. Makes them question its VALUE. And for good reason.

Playing hard to get works for both genders. Acting desperate repels both genders.

I admit I enjoy the thrill of the hunt. But I don’t lose interest in the women I’ve already caught, I just like to hunt and add more to the herium. At the same time if a woman plays games and hard to get I won’t Give her the joy of making me exert effort into catching her. I just find a different target.

Depends what you define as "the chase".

If we're talking about the thrill you get when you meet a new woman, realise she's interested and try to progress towards dating...yeah, I love that.

If you're talking about the nonsense, flakey BS and meaningless platitudes you have to wade through to get to the dating...no, that sucks.

What do you value more... your college degree or a certificate of completion for a 2 hour on-line course?

The harder it is to get something the more value we place on it. With chicks however, love is deeply connected to respect. A chick can not love a man she does not respect. So it is MUCH more important for a chick to invest in you so that she sees value in you... if you make sh!t too easy for a chick you are nothing to her.

Chicks think that dudes like the chase because that is what they respond to. Men really would prefer that what they want is easy to obtain, so that we can focus on other things. I would love it if all I hard to do is snap my fingers and any chick I wanted would just hop into bed with me. It would save me a lot of time and money... time I could use making more money or rebuilding motorcycles.

I love the hunt.

When I get the women, I get bored and need to hunt again.

Normal people want the "prize", they get pleasure from winning

What’s the difference?
A quote from the movie "Colors":

Two bulls are standing on top of a mountain. The younger one says to the older one: "Hey pop, let's say we run down there and fvck one of them cows" (CHASING). The older one says: "No son. Lets walk down and fvck 'em all". (HUNTING).
