ive made a concious effort to build a small circle of plutonic female friends to use as wing-girls when i go clubbing.

You seem like a cool dude, so hopefully you don't take this an insult.

WTF were you thinking with this whole White Knight routine? Did you really think that would make her a good wing? Very very VERY few women are good wings. Most of the women in my experience that have been decent wings were girls I either already banged, then we became good friends after a while OR girls who I had zero attraction to..... even then it was never a good option.

Again I agree with others, I think you wanted this young 'ho bad, but you have learned how to control your emotions to a degree compared to the young 20 year old chump.

Never do this routine again, I'm sure you have already decided that with this experience.
