Ok guys, how do you guys act or in what way are you supposed to act around the girl's parents? Especially if the father is an AFC. Would you be dominant and show him his place or be respectful and nice, just basically AFC with the parents. Also what would you do if it is a strict father. Act chumpish or be dominant like an Alpha Male.

I just recently acted dominant towards this AFC dad, so we'll see how it goes, and i'll update. We were sitting on the steps before my door (she drove me home), and then her dad came to MY driveway all pissed off acting like he owned the place (in an AFC way). Anyway she was crying and telling me how her friends were ignoring her. I played it cool by just letting her let it out and NOT COMING UP WITH SOLUTIONS TO THE PROBLEM> that's a no no.

Anyway when the dad came, I stood up (trying to be polite, standing up when the adults talk to you) anyway, my posture may have been threatening and I cracked my knuckles too. The dad said "Get home, NOW!" and he never looked at me (he knows where his place is). Which was kind of mean because his daughter was feeling so bad, she didn't need this bastard go and make things worse. So they both got in their cars and I said in a confident, laid back, sort of didn't care what really happened kind of way and said "good night". Neither of them answered. I thought that was pretty funny. So what do you guys think?

i think ur an ******* lol not really but when u have a gf and shes feeling down she expects you as her bf to help her get through it

anyways, back on topic

when i met my gf's parents it went pretty smooth i acted cool and funny with her mom sorta like busting c&f with her but to a certain extent and now were really kool with each other and she trusts me with her daughter and she likes me and she offers to pick me up from my house when i have no ride to go over to theirs so her mom is kool with me

as for her dad hes really quiet and strict so i just tried to find something in common with him and i did....soccer! i saw him watching soccer and i asked if i could sit down and we sorta talked about it for a while and we discussed stuff like what teams we liked and stuff i was feeling comfortable enough talking to him and he was also so when he told me he liked a certain team i busted out with omg how can u like them pumas(mexican soccer team) is soooo much better and he just laughed and said "right" in a sarcastic way

Yes, i do in fact have something to say.

This is how i delt with my current GF perants. Confident, non-threatening, laid back, polite, humorous and most importantly, casually.

With her mom i've spent a bit more time with her, and i just small talked a little, was polite (remembered my thank yous and pleases) and added in just a smidge of C&F.

With her dad, started with a hello and a nice firm gripped handshake (NOTE: THIS IS MANDATORY) small talked a little, and said that it was nice to meet him and all that, and went on my way. Then, when i see him around i act polite, small talk with him a bit, and just let things be.

Now, as for your situation, i would have to say ease off the domination a bit. Being that he is an AFC he is more than likely prone to fighting dirty meaning that he wouldn't think twice about being a jack-ass and more or less forbidding your girl from seeing you or w/e because that is all he can do being an AFC and all. I reccomend that you just play it cool, polite and above all else DO NOT give him any reason to be a jack ass to you.

Thanks. It's WAY better from the other advice I've gotten.

Just ask like you would towards an adult who your parents are introducing you to, or you need to show respect towards.

Whether the dad is an Alpha or an AFC, just be polite, give a nice strong handshake(none of that limp wristed crap), smile(make sure its genuine) try and be crack a couple jokes(all in good taste).

The mom is a tougher nut to crack usually. But a handshake, politeness etc. goes a long way as well. Depending on her *****-level, bust a bit of C&F.

Remember, the parents are from a different generation, when chivallry was the thing to do. Act accordingly.

Making conversation, obviously helps. Akward pauses are, well, akward and can ruin the good rapport. My ex's dad likes car, so and am a total automotive fetishist, so when I met him, we had a nice long chat about new cars, automatic vs. manual transmissions etc. Funnily enough, he kept ignoring her current bf(I was freinds w.her..I was young and stupid dont ask) and coming over to talk to me. I think she was none too pleased about that.

Yes!

you are a true pimp. Not being a girl's emotional tampon is one thing, but exasperating her problems by causing trouble with her home life - now that's classy. well done. go for it, piss off her "AFC" parents and see how much crap they give her for hanging out with you. she'll love it, I guarantee.

I do not think that you should label anyone else an AFC. This man is married and has a daughter, he obviously has had more sex than you and probably more success with women.

Being respectful and polite to adults and treating them well is an important life skill, it is not AFC. It is common courtesy. You can be dominant, but remember it is his house and he has done more with his life, so far, than you have done with yours. So control the situation if there is a problem, like a fire or something if you percieve he is inadequate, but never try to show him his place.

I love the phrase, acting like he owned the place, in an AFC way. There is no need to assert your dominance over him. You should have been polite and showed maturity by trying to defuse the situation. "Hello Mr . . . , thank you very much for allowing me to take out your daughter tonight." "she was just about to come home".

Personally, i would never let a girl tell me all her problems because that is acting as an emotional tampon and if she tells you about a problem, try and fix it, that is what adults do.

Why crack your knuckles, that is a really dumb thing to do. It is always interpretted as a threatening gesture.

Parents love me, I am polite, thankful and respectful, with just enough of a hint of cheekiness about that they know I am confident and can look after myself, as well as their daughters. I act responsibly.

I have had girls say "oh my mother was asking about you and when you are next going to come around." If a mother is encouraging her daughter to invite you around then you are in luck. You have an ally in the family. Of course there are parents that feel threatened by you, dont let them, show that you know your place. Even if you think it is superior to them, humour the parents.

A tip about mothers, talk about your family and looking after people, they love caring, sincere people. My brother manages to get away with asking "is this your older sister then" to all the girls he picks up when he meets their mother. It works.

A tip about fathers, ask them for advice, conceed to them their maturity and experience. Even if you know the answer, ask them about something they will know, for example if he has a hobby about cars, ask for advice on what type you should buy. A good fall back is to ask about career advice. People, and fathers in particular love being flattered.

Remember play nice.

Yeah, if getting married to the first girl you date means that he has more success with women, then you are absolutely right.

Try and fix her problems? WHAT?! Can anyone else believe he just said that? A "master Don Juan" said to try and fix her problems. That is the most AFC thing I've heard all day...Go back to the basics buddy.
*sigh* I just can't stand chumps trying to give advice
