Sorry, but some of yours are really dumb and over-the-top. Remember these are just movies, a lot of these characters would be ridiculous in real life.
It's ok, I can handle it. But I wasn't really going for realism, like Predator. I think most guys here know movies are fake.

At least I hope so. But, as far as I know, the actors in those films are humans, so when they are "play acting" they have to tap into that energy to convey the character. I don't get confused when there are explosions and space ships. Usually.

im not referring to the movie or situation being fake or over-the-top just, the characters. i loved Ghost Dog, but imagine a man living a roof using messenger pigeons and carrying out mob hits in real life. He's an honurable and focused masculine character, but he shouldn't be listed here. that's all i meant.

predator is obviously fake, but Arnold's reaction to the situation makes him a bad mofo, and he's a good hero. same with roddy piper in they live.

training day was realistic, but denzel way overacted. i thought that movie was cool when i was like 16, now its just ridiculous. so that movie shouldnt be included, even though it's more plausible than predator. feel me?

Ghost Dog is one of my all time favorite films. Jim Jarmusch is a great director and Forest Whitaker was a great actor as always.:up:Another movie I really liked was "Le Samouraï" directed by Jean-Pierre Melville (1967). This film is pretty much the great grand-daddy of "Ghost Dog; Way of the Samurai"

Oh, yeah... I'm glad to see that someone else liked "The Warriors". Although, you have a really good point about the main character, I'm pretty sure that Cleon was beaten to death by the mob, and another guy was thrown onto the metro-rail by a respected officer of the law. Pretty much everyone else was 'done in' in some way as a result of trying to get some pVssy.

No one mentioned Scarface? Tony Montana is a f**kin bad man, if a little over the top.
Only if you're into ****ing your sister... which, you know... is kinda' what he was into... his sister. Besides, Tony Montana was a parody, this movie was pure satire. I almost have to laugh at all these little boys walking around wearing t-shirts with logos like "The World is Yours" or "Say Hello to My Little Friend"-- they just don't ****ing get it!:cuss:

greg brady. from the brady movies and the tv series. this might sound strange at first, but he was always so smooth and cool. it might have had to do with the fact that he was 30 and still in high school, but he was always so smooth around the ladies. he was hot as well. even in the episode where his hair goes orange because of stupid cousin oliver. he was at his hottest as johnny bravo when those chicks were let in the room to tear off his shirt. lets never forget - he fit the suit!!

in the movie he got him some marcia. seeing that the father was as gay as aids (and died from aids as well!) i am sure they could have made an episode on what mike was really thinking when he had those father-son talks with greg.

of course he wasn't real, but none of the above actors were real or even realistic. just that greg brady was the first dj that i ever was a fan of.

I'll have to check that movie out. I've seen Seven Samurai 1954, I have DVDs of Seppeku 1962 and Ikiru 1952, but haven't gotten around the watching them.

Its been a few years since I watched Warriors, Im hazy on the details. Awesome flick though. No stupid stunts or ridiculous fight scenes, no one-liners, no sappy family or romantic subplots.

Piper's buddy Frank was killed by a corporate female spy, in Romper Stomper Russell Crowe was killed by his best friend for a vengeful ho.

edit - Le Samourai has a 100% rating on rottentomatoes. Always a good sign.

It's a shame so many great films fail at the box office, there's no incentive to make them.

Go watch "The Warriors" instead. Pay close attention to the relationship between Swan and Mercy. Cool ****ing movie.
My bad, I didn't see you already wrote this before I did. Your right about Scarface too, that's what I was referring to about dumb and over-the-top characters that don't translate to real life.

Same with Hustle and Flow, you had it first reset. That guy is the epitome of street smarts. He lives in a poor black neighbourhood and when a skinny white guy knocks on his door, he says "you mormons are some brave muthafukas."

I'm gonna have to agree with some of these choices but also take issue with the context.

I have great success creating attraction as the steely-loner type (Clint type of character). Works really well. I've had an HB come up to me at the orthodontist while I was being worked on and she told me I should smile more and continued to speak to me while I was getting my check up. I was walking around that morning with the same steely "F@ck you" Clint look. And payed her no attention even though she was flittering around the orthodontist office being an attention hor.

It also works well for the girls at work. That mysterious, loner, mean jerk.

BUT...I would counter that it wouldn't work so well on a date. On a dinner date I'd counter that you'd have a lot more success as a Vince Vaughn than a Clint Eastwood. More lighthearted and fun. The Clint way is more dangerous, and scary - eliciting a different type of attraction. The essence of the animalistic alpha male.
The Vince Vaughn is a different type of attraction - more of a social alpha.

For today's stuff, I'd go say Russell Crowe, Denzell Washington, Matt Damon. Even Jet Li and Ethan Hawke in my book.

has charles bronson been mentioned yet? quietly goes about his business which is bringing justice to the streets by killing muggers/thugs and rapists. Old school type of man, quiet, not an attention *****, but radiates with manlyness.

At this point you probably have a woman (or multiple women) chasing you around, calling you all the time, wanting to be with you. So let's talk about how to KEEP a woman interested in you once you have her. This is BIG! There is nothing worse than getting dumped by a woman that you really, really like.
