No prob

torn victor, obviously you dont know your history about grappling, but sak does infact train bjj. my instructor and a few other fighters i know train and have rolled with him as well. Submission wrestling is a spawn of bjj or jj in general. The only difference is the submission wrestler is more comfortable being in the guard rather than pulling guard. I would have to say bjj has many more moves available to use, the only downfall is most are with using the gi. If you look at guys like chuck Liddel, Tito Ortiz, Coleman, all these guys train with bjj guys. The key is as somebody else mentioned is not to just stick with one art. Kind of like dj'in. you dont just use CF routines and thats it. You've got to apply everything you know and intertwine it together. You can't just go into a fight and say im a grappler or a bjj and therefore my art is better and i will win. you gotta be good on your stand up and the clinch as well.

p.s. Triangulo nice job on the triangle. Can you explain in detail how the fight went?

Submission wrestling came from BJJ/JJ? Are you kidding me? Submission wrestling existed in Ancient Greece... a LONG time before JJ was even created.

Everyone crosstrains these days, they need to (as I said before). However, Sak is not primarily as BJJ guy as Matt Serra or BJ Penn or Murilo Bustamante would be - he is first and foremost a wrestler.

myfriendblu, sounds great. I'm on the east coast but I will be flying out to California in May. Where are you at in Cali? I'll be heading to Sacramento.

And just to be clear, I don't want a grappling match. Just a friendly little vale tudo fight. PM me for details.

There are signs, body language, that will tell you when someone is about to go at you. If you really feel they are about to attack you, hit them hard, hit them fast, and hit him till they can't fight back. If you've decided not to fight, for whatever reason, run.
Good advice on the streets, but in closed environments like a school.... only problem with that is that it's *always* the person who "threw the first punch" that takes the rap for it. They don't care if the other "was about to" take a swing..... you did it first, therefore, you take teh suspension; or you get fired; Or whatever it might be in your environment.

The thing is, there are other things you can do. Dodging or armlocking are other options. The most important thing to dodging or armlocking is that you quickly move out of range, usually by making quick hop backwards. This will usually cause them to miss any kind of swing, they are open to all sorts of armlocks and holds.

 Ahhhh for cryin out loud......This is EXACTLY why I have gotten away from the whole MMA scene....endless challenge fights from people looking to boost their fragile ego's. It tends to get old.

LOL After I won the first Gracie BJJ championship back in, shoot, 98, LOL, not a SINGLE day went by without some sort of challenge match, some guy off the street dropping by looking for a fight. Yawn.....:p

I've got it , here it is BJJ vs open styles in a one fall , no holds barred (no nerve strikes or fai-jing) DJing contest.

Personally I think us Muay Thai guys are gonna have this one , kickboxing trunks look the money

What happens, IN HER MIND, is that she comes to see you as WORTHLESS simply because she hasn't had to INVEST anything in you in order to get you or to keep you.

You were an interesting diversion while she had nothing else to do. But now that someone a little more valuable has come along, someone who expects her to treat him very well, she'll have no problem at all dropping you or demoting you to lowly "friendship" status.

What the hell does martial arts have to do with being manly? That is like saying a woman taking self-defense is manly. It is just learning how to defend one's self.

So you don't want to do it? I like vt more than straight grappling, but if you're uncomfortable with a fight then grappling is fine.
