Marijuana will kill you:rolleyes:

So I went to Amsterdam for two weeks for vacation and started smoking a lot weed. Needless to say it was an unique experience which in a way made me aware of a few things. The first thing was that after smoking all of that reefer, I didn't see any "life changing negative" side effect the government of this country suggests occurs after smoking it.

I currently live in the United States and marijuana is illegal in this country. I went to school here and I was taught that the reason I shouldn't puff the grass is because: "it will lead to another drug abuses such as heroin or cocaine", "it will damage my brain cells", "it will give me cancer", "it will lead me to do things I wouldn't normally do when I am sober such as impregnating a girl", "I will commit a crime and go to jail":trouble: and so many other reasons.

After I started smoking I realized that my senses were very heighten after I got high. I myself am a musician and I love music. After smoking I started to feel the music through my whole body and left me with a glorious experience.

The food also tasted so much better when I was high. I was also eating more often because I had the "munchies". The curious thing was that after eating so much for some reason I actually lost about 3 lbs.

I started getting high every day because it was a vacation and I was in the Disney World for adults. Every time I smoked I would be extremely happy and would laugh for long periods of time for no reason.

The reefer also had some negative effects to it. One of them was that I would become extremely lazy. I'm usually lazy but this was more than usual. Another negative side was that my memory was acting funny. I couldn't remember some things I wanted to remember. When I stopped smoking that went away thou. The last (and worst) effect was paranoia. For some reason I was paranoid that the cops would arrest me or something. I wasn't extremely paranoid but that was anoying.

When I came back to the States, it was back to real life. I didn't smoke anything for the first three weeks I was back. At that point I realized that I wasn't addicted to the drug, I didn't have that much craving for it. I got some after that and smoked it. The experience was about the same, the weed however was not the same (the grass I smoked here was **** compared to the one in Amsterdam). Anyways, it didn't have any bad side effects up to today.

Now I ask myself, why the phuck is it illegal? and why aren't more people trying it. I wanted to know if any of you guys actually smoke it. Also share experiences or give me reasons not to smoke it.

Ps. I am not a hippie or anything and I work out once in a while

you just listed all the negative side effects that affected you, maybe people are just trying to avoid that. Also, this is just what i'm thinking, but the fact that you also went and got some more weed in the U.S after your vacation seems to be an indication of a possible addiction. Maybe i'm right, maybe i'm not but now that you've tried it, found out you like it, what's holding you back?

I quit smoking completely, but I used to smoke bud a few times a day in high school. Negative side affects: laziness, bad memory, it's not cheap and it causes serious paranoia. I don't just mean being paranoid about the cops, either. I thought that even my closest friends were plotting on me. When I was high, I was extremely insecure around everybody. I would always wonder if what I had just said sounded stupid. I basically had no confidence, whatsoever. Not a good way to be when you're trying to meet girls.

Of course is not a good way to meet girls and it doesn't boost your confidence. I don't use it for that reason because I already have a girlfriend and only if you are not confident you are gonna be extra shy when you are high. If you are confident you are not. Marijuana doesn't seem to change your personality by that much. So if you want to use it just use it to kill time not to build your confidence or meet girl. Yeah, and one more thing, hippie girls are a lot easier than regular girls if you are a shy guy, they listen to you and don't judge you.

You are right. However, I don't think I am addicted to it. Like a lot of people I like to go out drink and have fun. The only difference for me is that sometimes I like to go and smoke some weed. That's all. I don't smoke it during the day before I do something or I don't use it to get by through the day.

I'm not asking for advice. I've been through that period in my life and moved on. The only time I was shy was when I was high. Maybe you're different.

Wait until you get caught with weed by the cops. Not something you want to go through, buddy.

I only smoke weed if I'm with my pothead buddies, which is at most once a month. Even then we do it classy with pipes, no joints. And even then, only if there's nothing better to do.

I see it as a non-issue, if you don't abuse it it's not gonna mess with you.

In hell. I'm Satan's lover.
I won't touch any drugs other than caffeine and very, very rarely alcohol. I had heroin and coke once a really long time ago -- back in my AFC/musician days. I know weed isn't supposed to have addiction or anything but I can't touch drugs now. Kind of like eating healthy then one day eating a big mac. Ughh.

As for weed being illegal, I think it's pretty silly considering alcohol is fine.

I use to be a wake n' bake kinda guy for about a year.

But really, it messes you up in social interactions. It's hard to have a regular conversation when your being paranoid and arguing in your head with seven other alter-egos. It's not like uppers, weed is a more personal high.

It's fun and lifts your mood, but only do it if you with other people getting high with you. Latley though I've been getting overly intense bad trips from it, so have stopped smoking even occasionaly.

I still think it should be legal though. Not only is it less dangerous than booze but it's a much more constructive high with all the creative thoughts and stuff.

I have read someone say that pot gives you the inspiration to formulate great ideas, and at the same time takes away the initiative required to capitalize on any of those ideas.

Smoking everyday doesnt get you lifted.. in fact it gets you lowwwwwwww.

For me its a rare treat on a day that I dont have much to do.

IMHO, alcohol is far more destructive and dangerous than weed...they should totally legalize already.

Not strange at all, weed speeds up your metabolism. If you had week everyday it's no wonder you lost weight. I guess that's one of the benefits of marjuana, kinda like the 3 day diet :D

Heh.. join the club. First time I got high I was nearly hit by a car since I was laughing my ass off rolling on the floor in the middle road. :D That is why a lot of people with too much **** going on in their life find comfort in drugs...alcohol, nicotine, marijuana, cocaine..etc. It takes you off of the reality and bring you into another world where those problems don't exist. I remember the first time I tried weed I was 15, at that period my Dad nearly kicked me out of the house and I had lost my mother...believe me when I say I was totally ****ed up. Someone I knew offered me some weed and it dragged me into another world. The next day when I was over that "high" phase I wanted weed again...simply because I was like the happiest man on earth when I had week, and I wanted to go back to that state instead of the harsh reality.

From what I've read and from my own opinion weed isn't addicting to your body like nicotine is, it's more of a mental addiction. It depends how strong your will power is if you're gonna become addicted to it or not.

It destroys brain cells and supposedly it makes you dumber. :p But seriously think what it would be like if weed is legal, cheap and easy to find. How society would be like.

Also funny you guys should mention that you're confidence drops and your insecurities appear when you're high. For me it's exactly the opposite. :S

the problem with smoking weed is that it will make u depressed. I know a few buddys who do it several times a day. I think thats just pushing it a little too far. keep it down to 1-3 times a month at worst. If u push it too far and do it everyday then thats when u get fvcked. The major problem with weed is that it KILLS MOTIVATION. U have no desire to do anything with ur life after u have smoked it. and that is why it is a depressive drug.

I agree that otherwise it is not too bad of a drug. I do it about 4-5 times a year and whenever i do it i get these amazing ideas on life. its like u are suddenly viewing the world from a different perspective. I am willing to bet that a lot of inventions, were invented while people were stoned. I am willing to bet Einstein did weed to come up with his theory of relativity, cuz nobody comes up with that **** when their sober, its just too fvcked up of a theory to try to do it sober.

just dont fall into the more than once a week routine with weed and u should be fine.

I've smoked it 4 times in my life all in college.

The only 'paranoid' was because i was afraid to get caught since it's illegal. And it was no more paranoid than if i was walking through campus with alcohol underage.

I actually really liked it. I don't remember giggling like a moron or being unmotivated. I just remember a relaxed good time, releasing some stress, hanging with some friends... just like alcohol without the terrible taste and morning hangover and having a different feeling than drunk.

I don't think it MAKES you depressed. The people who get 'addicted' to stuff like this are already predisposed and when they find a crutch they begin to rely heavily on it to deal with life. Normal people don't feel the need to depend on substances.

I'd do it occassionally if i could grow it myself but it's cost prohibitive to have to buy it and i work for the government and am subject to drug tests though i've never actually heard of anyone around here being tested. Hmm, with the supplements i take i wonder if i'd test false positive for anything...

I don't understand the people who do it all the time anymore than i understand the people who want to drink several times a week. Sure in college i drank about twice a week, but nowadays... nah, that's old hat. Maybe a couple times a month even though it hurts lifting but i've still gotta live life.

It shouldn't be illegal. It's only illegal because people like to control sh1t. Just another power trip for the government. In the u.s. it was banned en masse with a lot of other 'hard' drugs in what i believe was one bill. I think it's pretty funny that states keep legalizing it while the federal government refuses to repeal the federal law. So much for separation of powers. Fvcking MADD and religious fvcks who only believe in free will when you're doing what they say.

Being an ex-chronic smoker myself, it is true that you eventually feel low after smoking for awhile as because it does have depressant properties to it, just like booze. That's most likley why it sucks for me now. You get the same problem with chronic e and cocaine use (though to a much bigger extent), basically all drugs if you do them too much will make you depressed, the harder the drug the more sh!tty you feel.

I understand that abuse could lead to bad things like any other drugs. I don't however believe smoking weed kills motivation. It adds a lot of procrastination, but the motivation is always there. Yeah, and I also don't think is healthy to do it everyday. I was just saying, it should be a choice over alcohol at best.

Weed doesn't really mess you up. I know a lot of really successful and non-lazy people that have smoked every day. Most of the messed up people that smoke every day weren't going very far even if they didn't. As long as you have your priorities straight it's very easy to manage, and it's not even addicting. It's true, though, that if you're used to being high all the time and wake and bake, if you don't wake up and smoke you will feel pretty low. I've never smoked more than 2 days in a row, and I do it at MOST once a week, usually less. On the positive note, it won't effect things like workouts and doesn't have all the negative effects like alcohol. No addiction, no brain damage. Only thing is the lungs. Some of the smartest kids I know smoked weed, but they never overdid it like some morons I know.

It's good if you just wanna relax. It's a more personal thing. It also says a lot about your personality. If you like it, you're probably a pretty chill person. Just do it in a comfortable environment. Here, we have to smoke outside in the woods at night so it's easy to bug out, which kinda sucks, but it's the only place we can't get caught.

But obviously, don't use it if you wanna game girls. I find it hard to carry on a good conversation with someone when I'm high, and I kinda lose track of myself and I'm pretty quiet. Generally, I don't get high unless I know I'm just gonna chill that night and do something like watch Planet Earth to some music with my friends (Life changing experience) or go for a piece ride. as for the after-effects, only once I had a 'weed-over'. We smoked a lot that night and the stuff we had was cheap and made us crash. Unfortunately, I felt like I couldn't concentrate on a single thing the next morning, and I overslept my 11:30 class and got more than 12 hours of sleep the night before by accident.

And you lucky duck, you got to smoke in Amsterdam. Best weed on the planet. What kind did you pick up? Some northern lights, white widow?

Anyway, I don't have any problems with the drug and I see no reason why it should be illegal except for the propaganda everyone spreads about it. It's not even intoxicating unless you smoke like almost a gram to yourself of some crazy stuff. you can come up with some pretty creative stuff. People write papers when they're high to come up with ideas. Only thing that happens is the grammar and stuff sucks so you have to correct it later.

And weed does NOT kill motivation. Unless you're the kinda person that needs to 'escape' and loves the feeling of being high all the time and smokes every day more than once a day. Then, your short term memory gets messed up. Some of my friends got to that point, and once they quit after a few months they were back to normal. Also, the more infrequently you smoke, the higher you get so it's more enjoyable.

IMO marijuana should be legalized. I know far more people with bad alcohol habits than bad marijuana habits.

If I could run to the corner store and pick up a joint versus a six pack of beer, my world would be a happier place.

It helps me to wind down at days end and there is no morning after affect for me. It does slow down my thought processes, so IMO legalization should have the same general considerations that are currently placed on alcohol use - I wouldn't want my brain surgeon to imbibe in either prior to surgery.

I am fortunate that I do not experience paranoia, or an increased appetite. In fact, I find that a good toke settles my appetite down and my weight has been at it's lowest when consuming marijuana on a regular basis. I do not experience low motivation, although procrastination has been noticeable at times. That same procrastination has been noted when surfing the net, or digesting a great book, though, so I think it's more characteristic of avoiding chores in general than actually associated with marijuana.

I do not believe that marijuana will be legalized in my lifetime, however.
