A good way to make money on ebay would be to go through yard sales and find out how much the stuff goes for on ebay.

then purchasing stuff that there is a large difference.

I think you would have to know what ebay buyers commonly purchase on ebay. What are the top selling items??? I know golf equipment is pretty popular....

Right, but what about how to order things in bulk and from where?

Good idea, and one I've used before. 99% of yard sale stuff is crap, but there's always that 1%. Stay away from big, bulky items that would be hard to ship. It's sometimes profitable to visit thrift stores and church sales - many times they'll have name-brand clothes (Abercrombie, etc.) that can be purchased for a dollar or two and resold for much more. I found one church sale that had about 20 pairs of A&F cargo shorts & jeans for $1 each. I sold them on ebay for about $13-16... making a nice 1300%+ profit on each. Another idea is to be an eBay seller's assistant. Many mail places (ones that take your package and ship it via FedEx, UPS, USPS, etc) will allow you to put a banner in front of their store advertising your business. For example, a "LET US DO YOUR EBAYIN' FOR YOU! (555)555-1212" is particularly effective. Charge 30% and you're set.

As for buying in bulk and reselling for less, I'd be hesitant - I'm a member of Rio Audio's ebay powerseller's private auction site where you can purchase lots of mp3 players (such as a lot of 20 Rio Nitrus 1.5gb, etc) but I've found the profits don't usually justify all of the work you do.

One thing that is a good business to get into is to sell stuff for people for a commission as someone mentioned before. I think thats your best bet.

There are places opening up now where you drop off anything you wanna sell and they sell it for you and keep 20% of the cut.

The reason why this is so popular is that buyers are weary of buying stuff with someone with no feedback. And if you already have positive feedback and lots of it you are more likely to get a larger price for an item and more likely to sell it in the first place.

Also a lot of people don't wanna bother making a whole e-bay account and going through validation processes and learning how it all works just to sell an old clock or something.

So you could offer a service where you sell for the best price possible any item people bring you, give them the money, and you keep 20%.

go to barnes an noble and cop a book called ebay selling for dummies. I was peeping it out but i dont have the motivation to put in all the effort it takes to make an effective ebay living.

Maybe someday.

Ebay was good for making money at home and very profitable, BUT.. all that has changed. It's oversaturated and very competitive when it comes to prices. Ebay has gotten greedy and raised it's listing fees recently and will continue to do so to the point to where it's not even feasible to sell online. Customers are always whining and moaning about shipping and want you to include it in the price.

In short: TOO MUCH BS TO DEAL WITH.

People want something for nothing.. Hell, they want you to give it to them for free.

ebay is not that profitable for bulk purchases but it really is profitable if you follow Diablo's post.

I wanted to hook up with chinese golf club bootleggers, and pass knockoff clubs as the real thing. I decided to stay out of jail for awhile.

I'm no ebay expert, but I would have thought, like any other business, find a niche.

Something that you are interested in and knowledgable about. Then put in some hard work, learn aout marketing, research suppliers and get best discounts etc, etc.

Create self-fulfilling prophecies. Always assume the positive. Assume she likes you. Assume she wants to talk to you. Assume she wants to go out with you. When you think positive, positive things happen.

No, that is not a good way to make money on eBay.

Is anybody in here doing a business degree or maybe has one already? I used to be into shares and the financial market when I was around 14-16 and was pretty successfull (I made a couple of thousands of euros starting with a couple of hundreds of euros) by buying the right shares (which was almost only luck I have to admit though, because I bought shares like yahoo and other IT type of stuff and that was the time when every share that had something to do with IT went through the roof for no apparent reason lol). Anyways, I started studying business management (because I thought that might be interesting if I liked shares etc. but probably depended less on luck) but was gonna quit, because I thought it was too dry, but now I decided to continue, because I felt like if you did all this stuff with real money invested it would be very interesting all of a sudden :D

I mean, seriously if I think about the time when I was reading all those magazines about shares and reading stuff about it on the internet, that would have been more than dry I guess, but because I had my own money on the line it was interesting...and I think starting your own business, selling stuff online and figuring out how to make the biggest profits might indeed be pretty interesting..but the downside of it, is probably that working in a big company wouldnt be as interesting and youd definetly have to start in a company where youre not your own boss, so you can get enough money...and later on success with your own business is still not granted..
