I can't really hate on this method but I don't endorse it either. But that's like me going into a casino and seeing a game I don't want to gamble on. If If the odds don't suit me and the variables aren't to my liking, I'm not going to play. At the same time though, If you make a fortune off of said game then good for you.

the reason it probably works is cuz the girl understands just how crazy of a plan it would be for the real guy to be doing all that that she convinces herself thats theres no way that anybody would do something so dumb and obvious that she actually believes its real
