hi, i recently started going to the gym again...and well there is a problem
i had a car accident about 2 years ago and i have a herniated disk L5 (spine inury)
so basically i cant do any squats or deadlifts ( including some other stuff)

i was hoping to see if i can do any other alternatives to squats / deadlifts

note:im not lazy...i really cant do this two unless i want to spend my life
on a wheelchair :nervous:

thank u

Can you do at least the leg press or you still have to avoid it?
What about lunges or machine exercises like leg curls and lex extensions?

Yes, there are other things you can do. I met a 100% All Natural body builder who is in a wheel chair. If he can achieve a great body, so can you! Talk to the gym trainers, they should know how to work with you.

Leg press/curls/extension. You may also want to try pushing a weighted sled if if your gym happens to have one. Another option is to try various one-legged movements like lunges. Try also doing back raises on a 45 degree angled stand--works the posterior chain without any spinal compression.

sounds more than adequate, you can really work your legs and entire body through swimming without the stress of weights.

i would also recommend lower back extensions on an exercise ball to hit your lower back without deadlift

Agreed.

I find leg press to be much tougher on my back than squats.
Unless it's one of the seated machine versions, and not the regular weighted sled one...
