I'm 5'8 and I just broke the 200lb barrier...I had to tighten up on junk and fast food. Sitting at 194 right now. 4 years ago i was 290 and miserable. I get a lot more attention..but like backbreaker said...the girls I'm getting right now are flawed in some major way. People who have known me for a long time though tell me how good I look now...one of the hottest girls I know always tells me how good I look now, in fact I saw her this morning and she tried to wrestle me and kept telling me how strong I am and how I looked great. (i get up and try to dress like a player every single day). So my confidence keeps going up. I know when I get down to 160 and then start to bulk up clean I'll feel even better about myself.

Of course nothing can replace wit, charm and social grace...doesn't matter how ripped you are.

Having a fit body is a piece of the pie but (obviously) not the whole thing. As I have mentioned on a post I put on here a while back I've been hitting the gym for decades now because I love it and it's a part of my routine. However, I have never gotten la*d strictly because of it. BOY(!) wouldn't that be great.

What it does do is raise a women's buying temperature to some degree both when you first meet and as things progress. Also, I've noticed if you really get muscular it can sometimes intimidate women which at times works against you. That doesn't happen a lot but once in while it does. More often it is a plus than a minus but then hey thats how it is with all women, some really like it and a few it effects them not so positively.

Funny thing, just last night I was at a new gym I joined up and playfully teased a decent looking women who I didn't know who looked my guess early to mid 30's about how she yawned twice, she laughed. I walked away to the other end of the gym do some shoulder presses, and surprise about 3 minutes later she casually plants herself two machines down takes off the sweat jacket she was wearing the whole time she was there showing one of those tight blue female workout tops with the thin straps over the shoulder. She was in great shape for her age. I went over started teasing her again for fun, got her name. Hopefully try to get her number sometime at some point, we'll see. I'm taking a guess on this but if I were my height (not tall) and I were 300lbs that wouldn't have happened. Just a guess though.

In my humble opinion, better to be in shape than not both for health reasons and with women.

Agreed.

This makes me wonder...at my age (or younger) having a normal built (as in just a flat stomach and not skinny) wasn't enough to stand out. But I've been thinking about it and come to the conclusion that after late 20's (and onwards) all you have to do, if you weren't born skinny, is simply "stay in shape" and you'll probably have an edge over most other guys that are out there dating.

Not looking to lose the muscle I've built up anytime soon, but it's interesting to think about it. Maybe if life ever gets to stressed out (after college, etc.) I might consider mostly playing sports (which now I dont find much time to do) instead of lifting. But then again, I won't do that in the near future, I guess.

One thing I don't have (and probably never will) is washboard abs. I always seem to have a little bit of love handles, but I lift weights and exercise so women don't seem to mind. Ideally you want your shoulders to be wider than your waist.
Some of us don't have the genes for that.

I doubt I will EVER have the inordinate amount of discipline it would take for a guy of my body type to get down to 8% bodyfat.

the positive side to this is the fact that I have wide shoulders and a generally muscular frame, so even though it's tough for me to get to a low bodyfat, I carry my weight well.

There's nothing better than a woman putting her hands on your chest, shoulders, and arms when you've put a lot of work into making them bigger. I'm no Arnold, but I'm in pretty good shape. Last year, some girls I worked with told me that they had been checking out my ass and they all wanted to grab a piece of it. So do lots of squats!
No doubt.

Even when I'm not in the best shape I have women commenting on how my "big arms" turn them on.

This is where us guys who aren't 6'1" can make up a little ground. Women don't want tall men, they want men who look like they can take care of themselves. Tall men look this way, but average or shorter than average guys can make up for it to an extent with bulk.

Part of it is the way I carry myself, but I carry myself that way in part because I work out.
Right on.

When I was at my peak I felt like a million bucks and I carried myself as such. Is it a coincidence that I landed a hot 21 yr old gf when I was in the best shape of my life???

I haven't seriously lifted in years, but the good thing is that I retained a lot of the mass I put on when I did, so for me it's just about getting back into lifting and eating right for a few months, then I will be back on my game.

I really need to do it....no excuses. It's just hard when I'm spending my evenings doing video production and such.

Oh wait....that was an excuse wasn't it?

I'm 5'10" hovering between 208-212 lbs and I feel great. A few years ago I bulked up to around 235 and even though most of it was muscle, I started to get tits and had a pretty hefty gut even though my muscles offset the appearance somewhat.

Since I started to incorporate more cardio in my workouts, I find that I have a lot more energy. Also, the build I worked on hasn't dimished any with my recent weight loss I'm just more defined now. I get a lot of compliments from women and since I'm still in grad school, the kids at college are always hating and the girls feel intimidated until I start to initiate something with them then they're all over me.

Most of my success with women my age comes from my personality and demeanor where I think with the younger, immature college girls it's a mix between my physique and "swag" I guess. I pretty much come off as a no nonsense kinda guy, which can be intimidating to some but sexy and confident to others. I've always been like this and don't think I'll change(even tho I am friendly and social I'm not like some punk/internet/facebook junkie)

So yeah, like most have already mentioned, a good body alone will only get you hoes but a combination of the right attitude, healthy body will make you invincible!!

Heh, I was reading an article in I think Forbes or Money magazine about a month ago that polled around 300 wealthy, affluent businessmen and one question was, "now that you've achieved many of your life's goals, what do you wish for that you don't have?" Overwhelmingly (like 85%) these guys said washboard abs and/or a great physique. You cannot buy them, you can only earn them.

At the risk of making this a 'looks' thread, there really is no better Peacock for a guy than a good body - abs being the holy grail. I tend to fluctuate between a six pack and a four pack personally. The trick is Peacocking your body while not appearing to be peacocking it. It goes back to women's preference for covert communication - if you overtly showboat yourself, you'll come off as conceited and lame. But if you can make a woman wonder "does he know his butt looks good in those jeans? does he know that shirt makes his chest look good?" then you're doing it right. As in all other aspects, a woman's imagination is the most useful tool in any DJ/PUA's tool box. All the funny hats, loud ties and black fingernail polish in the world pales in comparison next to a guy that looks good with his shirt off.

I have to agree with you except for one thing.

Abs ARE the ace in the hole, but really, when do you actually SEE abs? You either have to be at the beach or already half naked.....

This means that in actuality the most important part is overall upper body mass and definition. With the proper clothing it's easy to see chest definition, but what is usually more often noticed is shoulders and arms. With a short sleeve shirt if you are ripped you undoubtedly have forearms, and there is no faking that.
