I got a girl's co-worker pissed off by accident and I think she started to badmouth me and ruin my reputation there. (Very few people say hello anymore, although the co-worker has started to again.) I said something weird and now the girl I liked might be avoiding me.

Should I just next her and see if she changes her mind?

You "sunk the ship." Just because you ignore her it doesn't mean the "ship" will automatically repair itself. How about confronting her about it and apologize for what you did. If she accepts, great! Problem solved. If she rejects your apology, just say Okay, and move on.

Even in the Christian Bible, it says that being nice to your enemies will pour "hot coals on their heads."

What it means: If you are nice to your enemies (nice as in not returning negativity to them) when they criticize you, you basically make them feel awkward about being a bunch of punks.

Appologizing rarely accomplishes anything. You just have the be the better man and take the high road. Say Hi to them and be nice to them. It's hard to stay mad at someone who's being nice to you.

Right. People just see if you will apoligize, to see where they stand with you.

What would be great is if you can get her to apoligize for being a b*tch to you.

I'm taking the smiling and being generally indifferent to whatever happened route. If people want to start saying hello, I have nothing against that.

I refuse to apologize when I didn't mean to ignore her. She knows this, and by ignoring me she hasn't come to terms with her own feelings yet.

I approached her and told her that I forgot to say 'hi' to her friend, then walked away.

Yes, it was weird, but I wanted to let her know that I wasn't purposely ignoring her friend. It didn't seem to help at all.
