Looks is the clear winner here. Physique can help, and some random girls may flock to muscles and athleticism, but looks will do it every time. I know a lot of girls that even prefer bigger guys (I don't mean muscular), and don't care about physique at all. But you aren't gonna ever hear anyone say they prefer an ugly guy. Might be all they can get, but no girl is gonna go home and fvck herself thinking about an ugly guy.

I recently went out to the bars with a close friend of mine. He is skinny as hell (I call him Bones) but has the classic "good looks". I have a much better physique than him and he always tells me how he wishes his body looked more like mine. He also has ZERO confidence. I even make fun of him how he's not even confident in the fact that he has no confidence. And he agrees.

I am always the one doing any approaching when we go out. He never starts any conversations with anyone, and only sometimes joins in after I've engaged someone or a group. Yet every time, at least one of the girls flat out says "he's hot" or goes and tells him he's hot and talks to him. So yet again on Saturday... this one chick I started talking to. She actually initiated the contact, but I had to seriously work to keep this girl around. Kino, teasing, I was pulling out as much game as I could. She was clearly interested, hands kept rubbing my arms, came to sit next to me when I moved to another area multiple times, but I blame almost all of that on what I did to keep her interested. Then there's my friend, skinny as hell but "good looks", no confidence.... and that night, he had multiple girls tell him how hot he was. Some girl even randomly came up and grabbed his d1ck. So, in this case, you have me with the better physique and a lot more confidence, and I had to work to get half the attention he got. It's crazy...

So I think that both answers the question, and proves confidence sometimes doesn't even matter.

Looks. Physique can get you laid sometimes. Looks get you laid often + relationships + extreme niceness + favors + compliments + constant attention and smiles + other things I can't think of at the moment. You don't have to be confident or out-going **** - to whomever said that. You can be shy, quiet, reserved, isolated, anti-social, and women will still flock to you, and find everything you do "cute". They'll make the sexual advances to you, if you don't. You'll also be more accepted by society in general. People will constantly come up and talk to you, want to hang out, etc. You don't have to do anything.

I will say, though, that you have to be in shape. When I went through my fat periods, I got some looks, but not much else. When I got in shape (not athletic or muscular; just decent) - the women were all over, wanting to date, get married, have sex, etc. The treatment in general was a lot better. Not much effort was required at all. Women came to me constantly.

It also depends on how good-looking you are, as there are varying degrees. If you're considered a pretty boy, you have it made. If you're hot, or whatever, you'll still have massive success. But note that this has to be a majority opinion. One or two girls can't say you're hot, or whatever. Many, many girls must find you attractive. If that is the case, you don't have to do ****. Dates are easy; sex is easier. Many people will have you up on a pedestal, and be infatuated with you. The only thing you can do is mess it up by being a dumbass, like I was for so many years. Pity. But I had some pretty serious issues back then. No problems now.

So yeah, looks above all else. Always. I've seen so much evidence of this; I don't need any more. First-hand, second-hand, personal, observant, you name it. Dating guru's and PUA's can go **** off with their confident nonsense. All you need are looks + not being a dumbass.

For a man, his looks are an emergent property of his physique. The #1 indication of attractiveness for a male is the ratio of his back to waist (the V back factor). Likewise for women, it's the ratio of hips to waist, at about .6 (36-24-36) being ideal, not coincidentally the optimal for fertility.

It's about health.

Definitely looks, but!..

By showing extreme confidence you will fool alot of people, because you'll look much more atractive. Look at most musicians, actors and artist, alot of them are pretty ugly, but you wont even notice because of their charisma/caracter.

Then there's always details, alot of artsist use these. Alot of details like tattoo's, jewlery, clothes will distract from the bigger picture.

Physique is a good way to show that you take good care of yourself. However 99% women will not be attracted to you only because of your good physique, but it will definitely be a big plus. But there's also alot of women who wont like it if you overdo it, i.e. being ripped instead of just staying in good shape. That depends on the kind of women you want to attract.

However there are 100 more benefits of taking care of your physique!

Then no girl is going to trust you, but you'll probably get unlimited sex. I knew a guy like that. I think he way over-did it, and just his lifestyle in general. He got tons of ONS, but nothing else. He wasn't really a bad boy, or whatever, but still had nothing that would attract any decent people, or keep anyone around. Even though he got laid constantly (and I mean constantly), he was severely depressed and suicidal; did a lot of drugs and drinking; etc. Most people who do nothing but get laid by shallow skanks usually feel very empty and meaningless. I knew a lot of extremely attractive guys who were like this. All they did was get laid, and hate themselves. Most player / slut types are like this. They act fake to conceal their true selves - only to lose themselves completely. It's too shallow of a life, and not how it was intended to be.

The cause always comes before the symptoms. Hating yourself comes first.

The way I look at it, if you're not very good-looking, all the more reason to strive to have the best physique possible. And dress well. What have you got to lose? At the very least you'll feel better about yourself, because you'll know you'll be putting your best foot forward. Just don't think it will completely compensate for lack of good looks, because it won't, but every little bit of self-improvement you can do helps. Ugly and in shape is definitely better than fat and ugly.

Thank you! Seriously, "confidence" is not something that you decide to switch on or off. It can fluctuate and external circumstances will affect it. I tend to be defined as over-confident by a lot of people, yet I've experienced times in my life when my confidence was in shambles because of outside circumstances. I absolutely do agree that confidence is key, and it has a lot to do with how you handle yourself, how you walk around, how you look people in the eye, however you do need to be in a stable state of mind yourself before displaying these signs.
Indeed. Confidence doesn't usually come from nothing; it takes a huge amount of mental power to internally create confidence without external means. That's why attractive people without confidence and unattractive people with confidence are the exception, not the rule - good-looking people are positive and outgoing because people have been treating them better their whole lives.

As for my original post, the consensus seems to favor 'looks', though as I stated from the very beginning good looks can't really be acquired if you weren't born with them.

Still, as other people have pointed out, getting into very good shape certainly won't hurt your chances, and can even enhance your 'looks' by making you healthier, adding shine to your skin etc.

Its physique in my opinion. Specifically: low body fat. Any dude with body fat 10% or lower looks good in the face as well. If he's in good health his skin will have a nice glow as well. He doesn't need to have big muscles, but that would help with some chicks. Many chicks however are turned off by guys who have a lot of muscle, but carry 20%+ body fat as well.

Low body fat % is a function of high Testosterone. What women think of as "good-looking" in a man are only just evolutionary indicators of a healthy, high testosterone man.

Anyway, this reductionist bull$hit pisses me off. You can't separate physique from "looks", they are inter-connected. Its stupid to try and isolate them and say that one is superior or more important than the other. Its the same thing: a man with a good physique will be good looking. A good looking man will have a decent physique. There is no either/or applicable.

I absolutely agree with this.

I was born with a cleft lip and palate, very crooked teeth (which even braces couldnt fix), a very bent out of shape nose, one dwarf ear and a regular ear, and a slanted very asymmetrical face in which my muscle growth is on one side of my face and my lips move weird when I talk. I work out like crazy and have a very very very good body.......no one cares. Although I am also only 5'7 which is part of physique.

I litterally have had 12 or more cosmetic surgeries since I was a young boy just to even look as ok as I do today.

My whole life I have been extremely charismatic, outgoing and good with people, amazingly enough my charisma has made me socially acceptable to people.

However when it comes to women, no chance at all, it creeps them out when they realize I like them more than a friend actually.

So yeah unless you have a decent and normal face, having the physique is useless.

As d!ckmojo noted, body fat is key. In fact, according to my bodyfat scale, the lower the body fat the lower your metabolic age. Per Wikipedia: "Examining metabolic age will give insights to the overall level of health and wellness in comparison to those of the same age".

For example, when I am 20% fat it says my metabolic age is 38. When I am 17% fat, it's age 24. When I am 14% fat it's age 18.

If you want to date younger women, it helps to have your metabolic age be the same as her chronological age.

work on having a good body.. because.. it's healthy. FVCK!

if I had the money to throw around, I would also do plastic surgery to look like a hot supermodel. But, I dont.

Work on what you can and if you can't then nothing you can do. Simple. Sh*t.
