There's this girl at work I'm interested in. We always make eye contact and smile when we walk past each other, and I kinda felt a connection. I was going to ask her out, however... today at lunch she sat next to this guy, who is taller and I admit, better looking than me. And I'm good looking so that makes me mad. They don't work in the same department and I've never seen them talk before. They both left the lunchroom at the same time too. what's the deal? Whatever the case, it took the wind out of my sails. How would you guys approach this? And please don't say "Ohh just ask her out." Be realistic.

i didn't think it was a big deal until you said they left at the same time. that wasn't a good sign. it's not something people do unless they know each other. my guess would be they're dating.

i have an exercise for you Snowman. Go to a bar any night, and look for a guy and a girl sitting together. walk up to them and ask "excuse me, I'm sorry to interrupt, but you look like interesting people and I just wanted to know how you two know each other."

I bet you money that you will immediately assume that they're dating. And I also bet you the same amount of money that quite often it will be no such thing.

Assumptions are death. DJs do not assume anything. They ask. They want to know for sure. And quite often - quite quite often - a man out with a woman is an AFC who's attempting to hit on her without risking anything. Perfect time for you to move in and show him how it's done. That guy very well might have been waiting for her to say "Well, i need to get back to work' and then he walked her out.

Do not assume. Act.

I agree, don't assume anything about their relationship, maybe they both just wanted company for lunch! It sounds cheesy no matter how you go about it, but dropping a "boyfriend" comment is always the best way to find out if she has one or not: Slipping a "so what does your boyfriend do?" type question into your next conversation with her should tell you all you need to know. And if she doesn't have one, it lets her know you're interested!

I checked this thread earlier and thought "man, you guys are right". Well I walked into work today and they were both standing in the middle of the hallway talking. Then departed to where they were going. I mean, they just look like they're a couple. And they have no business talking to each other because like I said, they're both in different departments, so how do they know each other? I could tell it wasn't small talk - they knew each other.

It's not rocket science. They must be dating.

BTW - I'm good looking, but so is this guy. Plus he's older and about 6 inches taller.
