You hear it all over the boards. Be a challenge. Keep her guessing. Don't show your feelings too soon. We all know these tips, but a lot of us still find it hard to put them into practice.
Well, from many poker games played with friends at lunch, I've thought up a metaphor for these ideas that may just help some of you guys out there that may be struggling in this area. Think of the chase as a poker game.
For those who've never played a hand of poker, it is more than it seems. It involves the use of strategy and timing to win the maximum number of chips. Bet too much too early, and your opposition will fold with you winning next to nothing. If you bet just the right amount of chips to let them think you may have something they can beat, they'll join into the game. As the round goes on, bet more. If you lower the size of your bets, they will think you don't have as good a hand as your former bets implied. This gradual increase will pull more chips out of your opponents' stacks, and, assuming you win, you will have the pleasure of pulling that huge pot to your side of the table.
"How does that apply to girls?", you may be asking me. Well, if you come on too strong in the beginning, you'll scare the poor girl off. Show just enough to get her interested, and keep your hand to yourself. If your game isn't in the best shape at the moment, don't puss out. Stick with it and you could still come out on top.
Another aspect of poker that works with girls is the idea of "the poker face". The point of the poker face is to not show how good or bad your hand is to the other players thru your facial expressions. It keeps them guessing as to if you're bluffing or truely have a good hand. Don't think of using this idea in the way of hiding your intentions, that's just lying. Think of "the poker face" idea as keeping your inner thoughts about the girl to yourself. You may think she's the most beautiful thing to grace this earth, but if you told her that, you'd lose out in the end. Keep your "poker face" in the relationship and you'll win big.
Notice: I hold no responsibility in any loss of money or property as a result of playing poker using this article. Remember, when you gamble, you take a risk. Knowing when to quit is the best defense against losing the shirt off your back.
I hope Lady Luck will be on your side!
