Before I had started lifting, i could sleep alright. After that i had started doing the stronglifts 5x5.

For about about the 3 months i was lifting i needed to use melatonin on a Sunday, Monday and a few times on a Tuesday for me to sleep okay.

In the past 2 weeks when I havent lifted I've noticed i havent had to use melatonin once, no waking up in the middle of the night and not much tiredness in the morning.

there must be some sort of correlation, has anyone else exeprienced something similar to this?

Do you lift in the morning or at night? When is your last meal and what does it consist of? Do you use any supplements?

I lift at night, 7 and go to bed at 10.

I'd finish my last meal at about 6ish and it almost always consists of about 7 chapatis, a bowl of rice with daal and some sort of curry to eat the chapaits with.

Its not the type of curry you'd find in ur local indian, its a lot healthier, same with the chapati's. The 'curry' is just made up of vegetables.

Some days its beans, other days its aubergine(sp?) mixed with peas and potatoes. Lots of variations.

Also, to drink i have a youghurt drink mixed with water, salt and cumin in it.

I'm going to bet that if you lift in the morning or before 5PM, you'll stop having these problems.

Part of the reason we work out is to raise our metabolic rate and heart rate. Your heart rate is still going to be elevated for many hours after working out, so the longer the time between working out and sleeping, the better.

I work out usually at 3-4PM and never have these problems, but if I work out just before bed, I can get to sleep fine but I wake up and kick around during the night.
