Going through another of STR8UP's fantastic threads I chanced upon this golden nugget from Victory Unlimited:

MOST women are lifelong actresses. They have been perfecting their "craft" since birth. They are skilled at saying one thing and meaning another. They are skilled at acting one way while FEELING another way entirely. Many do this as some eschewed means of self-preservation or conflict avoidance. But there are also those who do this to RUN A POWER MOVE on you.
Immediately I started to reminisce about the first handful of films I had Directed or had been part of the crew and recalled how each of the actresses I'd hired had used some form of manipulation and thier own emotional feces to get that edge over the other women on set. Now, I'll add that some of these are Strasberg trained actresses from the Actors Studio which is a couple blocks from the school I went to. I mention this because they, like pretty much every other woman, have honed and parlayed thier Craft to such an extent that they have a difficult time discerning whether they're playing a role for a movie or playing a role for a prospective mate's attention. To women competition is thier primary source of motivation. It fuels their vision of what they see as thier best future and gives thier consciences a green light to do everything in thier power to get thier target " by any means necessary."

I remember one instance I was the DP on a shoot in Midtown Manhattan in the middle of February and the Director wanted a shot of two women talking crossing the street. Now, I had to hold the camera while walking backwards in the middle of the day, all the while keeping the frame correct. Not an easy task. But it was one of the actresses in particular who I still remember as being more diva-ish than the other who thought that she was entitled to more of the frame and did everything to subterfuge the other actresses effort to get the shot in the can. All for the attention of this particular Director. Reflecting on it now I see that he was using what we now know as "DJ-ism".

Though I use this illustration of actresses due to it being a point of reference in my experience, I don't believe that it's correct to limit it to one group of women. I wholeheartedly believe that these are universal body language/philosophies.

A camera has a POWERFUL effect on women.

I didn't realize how powerful until last weekend I managed to get a very conservative female friend of mine not only make out with another chick, but I also got her to open up her bra for a nipple shot, lol

I'm starting to get more involved in production and talking with one of the video guys I use as a subcontractor, he was telling me about how on one of our shoots he was observing one of the girls when she wasn't getting much camera time. He used the word "deflated", if that tells you anything.

Its a good thing you pointed out that typo otherwise he would never be able to develop as a DJ.

Ok Mr. Webster, it is now your responsibility to spellcheck each and every post someone makes here.

Perhaps this will make your post count rise high so you can attain that mighty Master Don Juan status.

Whether folks will acknowledge it or not, we all love attention.

Yo Troops,

Cameras are OFTEN more than just visual recorders of what a person IS. Many times, they act as capture devices used to freeze moments of time for either closer examination, or simple posterity.

The thing that's most ironic about SOME women is that when they get in front of a camera, the camera's eye gives them an excuse, leeway, or even a LICENSE to seek inordinant amounts of attention. And that's NOT necessarily a bad thing, because a woman wanting attention is a natural thing, and can be a GOOD thing.

The trouble usually occurs when these women CHOOSE to view their time in front of the camera so much like a drug that it becomes addictive----and their NATURAL need for attention becomes AMPLIFIED.

That's when attention often becomes an overriding, and constant NEED in their lives rather than just a "want". And that's when a woman runs the risk of developing into a fullblown ATTENTION WHHORE.

Indeed, inserting a camera lens into the life of SOME women can be AS DANGEROUS as giving the keys to a liquor store to consistent drinkers who are constantly on the verge of becoming confirmed Alcoholics.

March on.
