Put canadian tax money to teach them proper Math and English. Have seen how a grade 8 student's sentence construction? Or have seen how twistedly Math is taught in schools? Because some idiots did years of research and came up with a solution it should be exploration then only kids will learn how to plus, minus, etc. So now what are kids learning....they are struggling in Math,Sciences,Grammar!!!! Instead of teaching the proper Fundamentals they are trying to explore and the kids will be categorized as some Acronym (because kids cannot understand their stupidity) which will be invented by libertards.

While they say its about time to change the sex curriculum, my question here is: by teaching kids about other types of sex IE (oral, anal,masturbation) at a young age, are they teaching from a standpoint that its good? Bad? Or another 'safe' way to avoid unwanted pregnancy? When is a child deemed matured? And before then are their parents, guardians etc not solely responsible for them? Then how come this kind of change is done without consent from parents? For parents who are are for/against the curriculum their consent should be sought first.

TORONTO - Ontario kids as young as six will learn about consent while eight-year-olds will be taught about same-sex relationships under a revamped sex-education curriculum the province released Monday.

Why do children need to know ANYTHING about sex at age 8? Kids don't give a damn about sex ANYTHING until puberty begins to show up. Why not let kids worry about what to play during recess?

My kid's 8 years old. His biggest concern is when he drops something he built out of Lego, NOT how to get consent when wanting to get laid.

My kids will be home schooled, period.

I WISH I could home school my kid. My situation just doesn't allow for it.

The education system sucks ass. If my kid drops out of school, I'm not going to blame him. Rather than push for him to make our educational statistics look good, I'm more interested in pushing him to become successful in other ways. Don't get me wrong, I encourage him to finish school, but he doesn't need to take all the difficult, useless, uninteresting subjects in order to "better his chances" of getting a higher education. Schooling is very much overrated, and that's unfortunate especially when it comes to getting a job.

However, I think we're going to see a drop in the requirements to get work in the near future. With the baby boomers all retiring, the need for people to fill jobs is going to increase. Desperation to fill positions could potentially result in more on the job training instead of looking for those who are "groomed" for the position.

I genuinely don't understand why school needs to go past Grade 8. The purpose of school is to give children what they NEED to survive in the real world. They need to be able to read, write, do math, and know how to type. 5hit like history and science should be kept at the basics. If the child want to know more, he/she can pursue it on their own. Instead of having grade 9, give the option of getting more specialized education for a career or put the kids out into the work force. If they can read instructions and do math, they have the ability to work.

While I'm on the topic, I cannot express how p1ssed off I am that our Canadian education system does NOT teach both metric and imperial units of measurement. I get out of school and the first thing I grab is a 1/2" wrench. WTF is an inch? I didn't learn this in school!

I seem to remember SI/metric being discussed briefly in US grade schools, but to be fair metric is not taught here very extensively despite being used in engineering, automotive and for most devices in the US now.

But really, there's a lot of things grade schools could be teaching other than reading, writing and basic math and don't or don't very well. Things like discipline, majority and traditionally accepted manners and morals (not left wing progressive ones), personal finance, maybe even driver education skills and basic maintenance in high school, etc.
