By working out your leg muscles, your body will make a lot more testosterone, which is key for building muscle. This testosterone will also help out your other muscles too. Just do a few basic ones for the biggest muscles.

Arthur Jones, the father of HIT and the guy who started the Nautilus company, discovered this physical phenomenon in the 1970s.

When a muscle grows in response to an exercise, it will stimulate growth in other muscles. Big muscles will stimulate more growth then smaller ones (hence why squats are so important, as they stimulate a huge muscle group which in turn produces gains in other areas of the body).
That's not how it works. Please refrain from quoting Mr. HIT when attempting to give training advice. Squating isn't goint to make your chest and biceps any bigger. Cite one scientific study that proves this theory right. You can't because it's a bunch of garbage pseudo-science.

I'm not saying don't do them. Squats and compound exercises should be the bulk of ones training regimen.

Yawn. Yet another Anti-HIT guy. I've wasted enough energy arguing with one of your kind in the Muscle Failure thread. In that very same thread, I've used scientific sources to prove my arguments, and it was a waste of my time because it seems that anti-hit and stubborness go hand in hand.

Tell you what. You cite one scientific study that proves what I said wrong, and I'll debate with you, but until then, I'll assume you're full of sh!t like you assume that I am.

WTF? Don't be stupid. While I am no fan of HIT myself, Arthur Jones was right on this one. Try doing an all upper body routine for six weeks, and then try a 20-rep squat cycle with one multijoint upper body assistance exercise per workout for six weeks. I will bet you money that the second workout routine will make you grow faster.

I am enterting my second week of the exact same 20 rep squat routine that I mentioned, and I am growing like a weed; not just my legs, but my whole body (when I wore a sleeveless shirt for the first time in 2 weeks at the gym, and saw my arms as I did my front squat warmup, I couldn't believe I was looking at the same arms)

Just one? All right, here you go.

I'm not anti-hit it's just that there are better ways to progress. It works just not as well as different types of training do.

Here is a great article if you still want to argue the wonders of HIT.

It's nice to know the body is such a simple thing. There are so many variables and you back it all up with some anecdotal evidence. Coumpound exercises cause better growth in the areas targetted by the exercises compared to isolation but it's ludacris to think that squatting is going to make your pecs grow any faster.

I'll pass on the upper body only routine though, it's against my religion.

The increase in testosterone is so ****ing small that it means jack ****.

Yes, it's quite the common myth these days.
