I've spoken to someone who worked on a cruiseship. And she told me it was hell. You'll be a slave for the time you are on the ship, people will treat you badly and it are long and hard working days.

If you do this to meet girls and get laid, there are better jobs, such as bartender. Working on a cruise ship will get you nothing but a burn out.

FYI.... the main source of income was from tips. Nowadays cruise lines are putting tips on the guest's charge account. The lines are skimming off that to pad their profits. They have rules against banging the customers too.

I've heard it is awful as well.

Long hours, barely any time to relax. Not sure about the pay, but I doubt it's good, lol.

Don't do it unless you're an entertainer. I took a college course on cruise ships when I was at UNLV. For most of the people on board it's a sh*t job. You work endlessly for almost no money unless you're a comedian or magician. Those guys have it made in the shade. They work like 5 hours a week, don't stay in the crew quarters and have a whole bunch of leway with the passengers. If you're good at sales you could be an auctioneer and do the same thing but you essentially have to rob people. The rest of the crew are legal slaves. You work 14 or more hours a day for almost no money and they know how to get every cent you make. You have to adhere to very strict rules and can be fired for no good reason. There's a reason why most of the people in the business are from foreign countries.

I graduated with somone who went to culinary school for this type of job and he regretted ever going to school for it, turns out someone on the boat celebrating their 20th wedding anniversary lined him up with a job at some resort and now he lives rent free on site and gets to use all the goodies (pool, spa, in house masseuse), not really sure how much he was making at the time, but theres definitely no shortage of hot available women but now were moving into the gray area of "guest relations" and sh!t where you eat scenarios. : )

Computer Systems Manager I couldn't quote on. I would think that a specialty job like that, especially considering how complex the POS system is on these boats, you'd be treated better then standard staff. But then again, you personally aren't bringing in that much money for the ship so you're probably not going to get captains quarters or anything like that.

The auctioneer position is a sales intensive one. You don't NEED to have sales experience but you definitely have to have the skin of a salesman. Your primary role is to auction off paintings and other art work to people around the ship. You have to go around the ship most of the day and talk to people, promoting the auction and once there, pump up the atmosphere in there so people get spend happy and pay way more for something then it's worth. I have my reservations about it but you have to look into the matter further if you'd like to know more.
