Hi all, first time poster but been browsing a while. After some advice/opinions.

One of my side jobs for the last 6 years has been DJing, but up until recently I was in a relationship that lasted for 5 years of those 6, so I don't really have any experience pulling girls while on the decks.

I DJ'ed a 18th birthday tonight and there was a girl there I loosely know that is really cute, my type etc. I didn't get a chance to speak to her tonight but I have her number from a few months ago when I helped her out sorting out some music for her own birthday (while i was still in my 5 year relationship). I'm thinking of texting her tomorrow something like:

- Props on the most awesome dance moves last night at ****'s party! That was you, wasn't it? Looking cute in the white top, shorts, and heels?

Would something like this be creepy at all? I'm still new to all this and would appreciate some feedback on this!

Cheers,

hidemx

Instead of the double barrel compliment that is already looking a little wordy, and I can foresee turning into one of those game-killing long text convos, the whole thing should probably go like this:

You: Was that you with the moves like Jager last night?
Her: Haha omg so embarrassing or whatever
You: Was a fun night. We should grab a drink/coffee/whatever next week. What days work for you?
Her: Whateverday
You: Meet ya at this cool-place-I-know at Xpm on whateverday. Bring those sick moves.

p.s. I hope you're within appropriate age range of a 18 year-old.

I agree with CWord completely.

Two compliments is a bit much to open with. Also, remembering specific details about what she was wearing might be construed as creepy.

Like CWord suggested, tone it down just slightly (while still being fun), and then invite her to get together.

Thanks CWord, I'll give that a go.

- I'm 21, acceptable range for a 18 year old.

Strike "creepy" from your vocabulary. It's reserved for attention whoring fagbookers looking for validation. It's a throwaway word to describe the timid beta she saw at starbucks who dared hold her eye contact for longer than the appropriate time betas/omegas are socially allowed.

Pay no heed. Your better than that yes?. Might want to ease off on the compliments though.

You're right. Although I'm sure I'm reading the right material at the moment (RM, CH, here, etc.), I've still got a bit of unplugging to do and a long road ahead of me.

Our conversation went down like this, kept it to the script just due to my own inexperience at this stage:

Me: Was that you with the moves like jagger last night?

Her: Hahahaha well there were a lot of people burning up the dance floor last night to your awesome music so maybe not! Although I was the stupid girl who got way too into her dance moves and slipped over

Me: Haha you definitely weren't the only one that slipped over! We should grab a drink/coffee/whatever next week. What days are you free?

Her: Haha oh well that's good to know! Makes me feel a little less embarrassed :) umm with the final week of school, exams, and schoolies coming up, its a bit tricky at this stage

Me: At least you enjoyed yourself last night! All good, I understand. If you find yourself wanting to grab that drink, let me know. Good luck with it all!

Her: Oh I had a blast! Yeah I'll definitely keep that in mind. May have to unwind after it all haha. Thanks so much

I genuinely believe her about being busy with school and exams - its her final year and there is a lot of pressure on those exams she's about to do here in Australia. I barely left the house for anything during that time for me. Schoolies is a party week after the final exams. The final text makes it seem to me she is interested to a degree, but I won't hold my breath. She knows how to contact me if she's interested when she gets more free time on her hands.

Thoughts from you guys?

Instead of asking her when she's available you should tell her when YOU are available. Always remember, as a DJ your time is precious.
