Is hypergamy so bad that even a millionaire can't get dates?

This story is a bit weird as it is about a musical artist that released a single copy of his album to be sold at auction, and was bought by the notorious financier who has also bought (legal) drug businesses that have a monopoly on off-patent drugs (i.e., because anyone wishing to make a generic copy of such a drug would need to go through a lengthy process to get approved), and has promptly raised the prices for those drugs from very reasonable levels to extraordinarily high levels.

But it seems that this guy bought this album to help him attract women. It would seem to me that a millionaire would be in a position in which women come of the woodwork and make their introduction in quite an aggressive way. Now the man is goofy-looking & scrawny, but still! Perhaps nowadays even wealthy men like him need to be physically attractive for women to be interested in him?

As I posted in thread about looked aged, I believe women now require a man to have a certain level of physical attractiveness before they even care about the guys wealth and personality/game.

Many gold digging women do this not so much for them, but their family or their friends, or women they want to impress. I'm sure that is why mom married dad, his family had money. Her mother was obsessed with wishing she cold get rich, to the point that my mom took the cue and found herself a financially secure family. She has always taken care of the money too. My dad acts like we're almost broke around me, he thinks he's fooling me. I just play along, sometimes sarcastically. "Damn, it's that bad? We may have to sell some land to the farmer" lmao...He goes along too. It's hilarious, really.

And I'm sure some just dig all for themselves...fancy high self esteem chicks who think they are so good that her slash is made of pure Gold.

Agree on that, being the owner of the building wont help much if your look doesnt grant you her attention while you say it.

I dont understand how guys here get surprised or deny such fact, it makes a lot of sense in a world where almost every woman is playing in god mode and has access to a decent man whatever they are, why shouldnt all above average expect more than the average woman can get ( which is a decent man).

Years ago, the mayor of a town near me, which had about 30,000 people and a university that doubled the town's population when school was in, bought the domain marrythemayor.com and tried to recruit a wife. It never did work. He eventually took the site down after much ridicule. And this is in a college town, hot young women everywhere. Anyone with game can get laid, but the mayor with no game can't even get a wife.

It just goes to show you can spend $2m on an album and still end up looking like a miserly bastard.

Publicly announcing your plan to buy love would seem like a pretty fundamental mistake. Especially if you go out of your way to do it in the most crass way possible.

He's a perfect example of a man who really shouldn't get laid.

I wouldn't worry about this being a problem that affects all wealthy men. Just the ones who have absolutely no idea how to present themselves. You can be evil and still make the effort to hide it. Who would want to date a public hate figure?

Makes you wonder how he was ever able to get rich in the first place. Did he have wealthy parents?

In the world of loans and credit cards it is hard to tell who is a real millionaire, if you are millionaire and sitting in home that would not work , you need to buy some businesses and show you are the man of POWER. the power is what make women want rich men from their heart (unlike gold digger ) . but if you are one of the silicon valley millionaires who drive old car with catual look that will not work .

There is a difference between a man who has cheated his way through life to get rich and a man who has gotten it the hard way..... the first knows he doesn't really deserve it, and women can sense that. I drive older vehicles, but in a town of 30k, the women all seem to know who I am anyway..... or they make a point to find out. {Not talking about the little college girls, but most of the older women do} Women can sense a self assured, self made man.....

Hey man, Physical attraction and money are only good for initial attraction. Eventually the attraction will wither and die.
