One of my jobs I work in retail part time and in my department a girl the same age as me has joined recently and there's instant flirting and attraction off the bat. I know I could but is it a bad idea ?

Like to hear some advice generally on this topic and for my specific situation.

Thanks

The general consensus here will be to not tap her. From my personal experience, it can usually create a very awkward and unprofessional situation at work and eventually result in at least one person leaving the job.

I think it's ok if it's definitely a mutual attraction. But if she's an attention whoare or a drama queen then steer clear. Basically it has to be super easy with minimal input on your part. Ask her out for a drink and escalate outside of work. If she gives you excuses and so on just forget her completely and never bring it up again.

For white collar professional work, the answer is no.

For part time retail work, the answer is go for it. Part time retail work doesn't matter. Most people who work service sector McJobs have short tenures at their jobs. Replacing a McJob is much easier than replacing a white collar professional job.

Yeah go for it. It is one thing if you were a high level executive at a job. Too much risk of ousting you from a high salary position for some pvssy. At the same time, I suspect when you are at that level, you are rich enough to get any woman you want outside of work. Though I can understand the temptation of tapping that short skirt wearing secretary you see everyday bending over and such...

I digress. Flirt, see what happens, fvck around a bit, and live.

Replacing an executive level job is a pain. You're right that a lot of high level executives can get pusssy without having major pusssy droughts.

The pandemic has reduced in-person stuff so few white collar workers have a short skirt wearing secretary they see daily. In fact, even before the pandemic, secretarial jobs were disappearing.

Really? I thought secretary jobs was one of the stables for any person. They add a certain value to the productive part of the business, at least from what I've experienced. I wouldn't mind one personally.

logic....

go to work so you can increase your status due to money from work. use status to attract women. this scenario has several steps.
--
shortcut; get the cute girl at work and then get another job if you want one.
--

the question is what is easier for YOU to get, a job like that or a girl like that. keep the more valuable one and replace the other if/as needed.

I agree 100% , this is not a career job.

it's not too professional of a job , we are both young and tbh the rule if you were to date someone , youd apparently either get fired or moved departments. now I'm not planning to date her so I doubt it'd be a problem and tbh although it's retail , I'm a asset to that team I'd like to think lol.

yeah one concern is she's a bit flirty with everyone , although people have noticed she's taken special attention to me. Should I consider her to be a " attention ***** ".

Agree with above, if it’s a career and not a job, steer as clear as you can of that for so many reasons.

I got AW’d by a girl who worked for one of my clients - not in the same company. She was super hot and did the whole “I am in an unhappy relationship” thing. I spent about 6 months being here orbiter. I had just divorced and very depressed and I got massive oneitus for her. That’s how I found this forum.

nothing happened but I kind of humiliated myself by asking her out a bunch of times. She just wanted the attention. It put me on my @ss so hard I was suicidal for a while (I was also having a horrible divorce and family illness). I didn’t date for 2-3 years as I was so bitter.

what made this worse is that I was in constant fear because she effectively had written records of me asking her out and flirting with her. For about 8 years I lived in fear that all she needed to do was raise this with my company. “Me too” was in full swing. The way it was going, just innocently flirting and being a pathetic orbiter could have been seen as “harrasment”

this is now 10 years ago so I figure nothing will come of it and it’s too long ago now.

this incident kind of ruined my life and mental health for a long time, almost killed me.
I couldn’t understand why a woman would invest so many hours into leading a guy on. She seemed to get a kick from letting me down too.

this is an embarrassing story but it’s how I came here and was just a lesson which makes me a better man.

in summary, do not go there. It is fraught with all sorts of danger.

You're 18 years old. I disagree with the guys above trying to distinguish between it being a "career" or a "job." It makes no difference. One wrong move and she reports you to HR. This kind of thing can follow you wherever you go and will be something you never live down career wise whether it is related to what you ultimately get a degree/expertise in or not. This is without even addressing the normal day-to-day headache which is much less serious but still problematic. Don't do it.

Get women somewhere else, brother. It isn't worth it.

I'd be a hypocrite if I said don't have sex with coworkers because I met my current gf at work, but I've done it twice it got awkward when it didn't work out. If you don't interact with her at all at work then it could be doable, but there is also a liability risk of losing your job because of the fling, especially if she's high on the crazy scale.

I would say that it's generally a bad idea if you value your job. However, we are talking about a part-time retail job. You can get another job like that on whim, especially in this market, so who cares?
