IS BRUNO MARS HELPING GUYS LOSE WOMEN??​

If you turn on your local top 40 radio station these days, you're bound to hear at least one or - I dunno, 5 BILLION songs (rough estimate) featuring a guy named Bruno Mars.

After producing hits for other artists (like Cee-lo's "Forget You") and singing on tracks with newcomers like B.O.B. ("Nothing On You") and Travis McCoy ("Billionaire") Bruno Mars was able to release his own stable of hits like "Just The Way You Are" and - most recently - "Grenade."

In the latter song, Bruno Mars is talking to a girl he's interested in... who is clearly NOT interested in him. In the chorus he mentions all the stuff he would do for this girl - catch a grenade, jump in front of a train, perform self-mutilation - while knowing at the same time that she would, in no way, do the same for him.

Ah yes, the timeless "let-me-pour-my-heart-out-to-a-woman-to-show-her-how-much-I-like-her-so-that-she'll-start-to-feel-the-same-way-about-me" trick. Works every time, doesn't it?

Well, if you've tried it yourself before, you already know the answer: HECK NO, IT DOESN'T!!

Oh sure, you may have HEARD women say things like: "I want a guy who is able to express his emotions AND how he feels about me."

However, if you've tried doing this sort of thing in hopes that a girl would start to like you, you know what ends up happening instead: she becomes creeped out and stops wanting to be around you.

But why, you ask? Why would a girl suddenly become uncomfortable when a guy starts waxing all poetic?

For now, though, just know this: whenever you hear a song like this on the radio, where a guy is pouring his heart out to a girl about how much he's willing to sacrifice to be with her, it's a FANTASY.

That's right - these guys are saying the things they WISHED they could say to a woman in hopes of turning her on. In REAL life, though, the only thing saying those words will do... is make her want to be with someone else.

Especially in this case, where he's telling us the woman is CLEARLY not interested in him - why spill your guts out to a woman who already doesn't like you?? It's not going to help your cause, and only makes you look pathetic in the long run - and you do NOT need that girl telling her girl friends all about how sappy you are when it comes to expressing yourself. That's just bad advertising!!

Never heard of him. I would suspect that if he is American or Canadian he would be a black or mixed singer. I tend to only listen to Russian, Italian, French, some Brazilian and 70's American tunes. The most modern American song I listen to is from the LEGEND you can watch below!

If a women can't feel you will protect her, stand up for her, fight for her, then what good are you? She has to know that when the going gets rough, you will BE THERE for her. You will STAND UP for her, FIGHT for her.

Wow I'm really disapointed you weren't referring to John Legend! He's an amazing artist. Also agree with you about the 60's - 70's American music, it really kicks ass. Like pretty much anything from the 70's blows my mind, from soul and R&B to Heavy Metal

Seriously though. I've heard this school of thought and more than one guru teaches to cut all AFC music and shows whilst doing their bootcamps. And I have done it. But. At some point you rotate back to the world, and instead of being all pissy about it like the OP you recognize it for what it is. It's emotional music for women. Audio porn. And you tune it out. Or you enjoy it as a piece of music but you understand the underlying meanings. But what you don't do is get all cry baby about it.

Having the knowledge of what it is, is in my opinion sufficient inoculation from that particular mind virus. What has been seen cannot be unseen, what you know, you cannot unknow, you can only fall asleep if you let yourself.

Waaaa love songs are about supplicating to women. HERPA DURP! Every woman loves the thought of some alpha supplicating to her. Guess what? That famous singer is more alpha than most dudes due to his status, him confessing his lurrrv is a great fantasy to sell women. But in real life, he probably Chris Browns hoes too. lol.

Exactly. And no music lyrics are going to affect your subconscious anyhere near what personal experience will. If you listen to a song that tells you they will "do anything" for a girl, but you've had personal success with the information on this site, those lyrics will never factor into any decision you make. The ONLY way I could see music lyrics affecting someones game is if they never practice to begin understanding.

I'll agree with that statement.

The ONLY way I could see music lyrics affecting someones game is if they never practice to begin understanding.

This is the reason why it's so dangerous. To give an analogy, the media's influence on one's thoughts and behavior is like smoking. Let's say that you start smoking and you smoke a cigarette for a day or two...a year...several years and you probably won't develop cancer. Over time though it does erode your health and for many one day, it'll hit you hard with terminal cancer. Just because you cannot notice the effects on a daily basis doesn't mean that there is no effect.

My belief is that the media's preaching of AFCism has the same effect. It affects everyone but to varying degrees. Some are affected more severely and some to a lesser extent. God bless you if you aren't affected. I'm sure there are who aren't. However, my guess is that there will be a significant number of people who will be affected by this. If this weren't the case, I would be hard pressed to believe the mass supplicating behavior that I see in many males in our current society (and also in many posts on sosuave). Is it instinct to act in this manner? I highly doubt it. If so, this must be learned behavior and my guess is that the media had a large part to do with it.

Most men think logically and when they see superstars who preach "AFCism" through their acting and songs they have a tendency to associate these things with the success they have with women. Nothing can be further from the truth. Take precaution. There is nothing to lose by not listen to the garbage from the media that preaches AFCism. After all, you don't believe in it anyway right?
