This is a nation in which 85% of its citizens identify as Catholics. Thousands of Irish citizens currently living abroad even traveled home for this vote.

Based on reading Ive done, 30 years ago the Catholic church had a solid grip of power on the nation. Divorce was illegal, contraception was illegal, abortion was illegal, and being gay was illegal. Seems that after sex scandals rocked the Catholic church in Ireland, they lost their influence. Hypocrites do tend to lose the people they lead.

Anyways, divorce, gay relationships, and contraception were decriminalized over the years. Now polls are suggesting a large lead for the Yes vote on gay marriage. I would expect abortion will likely be on the voting block over the next decade.

The Catholic Church ceased being real Christians a long freaking time ago. They most definitely have selfish intentions over Godly intentions.

Either way, the answer to all of this is freedom to do it, I don't think anyone can really argue that. You just have to hope that people don't CHOOSE to engage in faggotry, divorce and all that crap.

The liberal movement is not about freedom, though.

Irish sure seem to be willing to accept Zionist ideas or at least tend to be kooky liberals. Stooge Ted Kennedy put a good ol' Irish American face and argued (lied) in support of jew Emanuel Cellar's master plan with '65 immigration act.

And Catholics have lost a lot of credibility, not that they had much with Protestants, and are doing a lot of harm about like any other big business organized religion.

Truth be told, 5-10 years ago you couldn't get popular support for gay marriage, but today you could probably pass by popular referendum gay marriage any where in the west now. Several years of constant brainwashing by the pro-gay propaganda agenda with PC speech not allowing dissent will do that.

To be fair, the Irish were discriminated against pretty heavily back in the day, just like the blacks, jews, women and gays. They got their 'freedom' as well, but still cling to the Democrat lie just like the others.

It was a vote for the state to leave people alone.

Good.
I don't know but that isn't the case for gays in the US. The gays got federal courts to overturn popular state referendums banning gay marriage and overturned legislation, then they get the government to harass wedding service providers who want to be left alone by gays with fines and threats of pulling their business licenses.

Who cares, most whites' ancestors came to America as indentured servants and almost every group has been discriminated against. Not all discrimination is unjustified. What many Irish, Jews, blacks, gays and women have been doing for over the past 50 years and counting just proves they should've been discriminated against. I don't really believe Catholic Irish were that discriminated against in an unjustifiable manner. Liberals are already saying muslims are discriminated against. Why shouldn't muslims be?

Patriarch Kennedy was not poor but solidly middle class way back when and became very wealthy. The Kennedys have been very wealthy going back maybe a century or more. So how were Irish so discriminated against?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/P._J._Kennedy
At the age of fourteen, P. J. left school to work with his mother and three older sisters, Mary, Johanna, and Margaret, as a stevedore on the Boston Docks. In the 1880s, with money he had saved from his modest earnings, he launched a business career by buying a saloon in Haymarket Square downtown. In time, he bought a second establishment by the East Boston docks. Next, to capitalize on the social drinking of upper-class Boston, P. J. purchased a third bar in an upscale East Boston hotel, the Maverick House. Before he was thirty, his growing prosperity allowed him to buy a whiskey-importing business.[citation needed]

By the time he died in 1929, P. J. held an interest in a coal company and a substantial amount of stock in a bank, the Columbia Trust Company. His wealth afforded his family of one son and two daughters an attractive home on Jeffries Point in East Boston.[1]
The Kennedys have been well to do at least since the 2nd generation and 1880s. The kennedys were just liberal elitist starting with JFK's grandfather in the 1880s:

He owned three saloons and a whisky import house, and eventually had major interests in coal and banking. He moved successfully into politics, as a sociable man able to mix comfortably with both the Irish and the Protestant elite, and he sat in the Massachusetts House of Representatives and in the Massachusetts Senate. His particular talent was for the behind-the-scenes machinations for which Boston politics became so notorious.

Let me first start by saying that I have absolutely nothing against gays/lesbians - but I DO have a problem with the gay agenda which seeks to villainize and marginalize straight males (particularly straight white males).
