Increasing deadlift range of motion -- Don't do it. The risk of injury ... too huge. I did it and injured my back. It's been three weeks now with no squats or deads. Recovery is slow, but improving. I've been talking to alot of really strong powerlifters lately, and they recomend not to do it. Rounding of the lower back is almost impossible with anything other than light weight.

Damn, that sucks. I hope you recover soon. I definitely won't try it, it's not worth getting injured.

Did increasing the range of motion hurt your back, or was it the rounding of your back that caused the injury?

Just try to stay out of the Row position when you deadlift.

The motion I use is basically the same lower body/core movement as the squat. Just, instead your arms are below instead of above.
