In college: Finding a woman's age

Okay, so in my computer class there is this red head girl, and the thing about the college is that its a community college, so the ages vary from 16-40+.
i was wondering, since it is rude to ask her straight up " How old are you?" I was wondering if there is anything to get it out of her? im 17 at the moment, and i want to see if i even have a chance with her

im not a genious or an expert at girls at all but i ask all the time they dont care. They only get mad if you like guess their age and its eiether alot older than they are or alot younger cause then their like you think im that old or you think im that young. And even then their anger at you for guesing wrong is about the equivalent of how they get mad if you have like incorrect table manners its like who cares

oh well i hear its extremely rude to ask. i think im going to ask " is this your first year in college?" and if it is she can range between 16-18 and if not, then i can keep assuming.

Start a conversation, then when it's going along well ask her age or she'll probably ask you anyway
