Sup British Dj's......I'm vacationing with family to go to England May 23rd

Can you guys give me some advice for djing in England where many standards/traditions are much different than here in America.....One in particular I heard was that English men are alittle shy about approaching women on the street and asking for numbers, I figure I'd use this to my advantage and come in and play the 'rich american' stereotype (dispite the fact I am FAR from it) to sweep them off their feet

Any advice so I can tap as many of your woman-folk as possible? :)

Why would you want to game british women?

I guess you haven't seen em yet... or been in a bar fight with one.

The "cold pickup" isnt used very much in the UK. Guys in general don't approach on the street. Girls are hostile to pickups in the street, on the bus etc. Of course, if your American then they might look at things differently.

The bar scenes where it all happens, really. And as long as you can look sort of 18, you can get into clubs too, so theres a heck of a lotta young slappers in bars.

A lot depends also on where you are in the UK - Londoners are really unfriendly in general, whereas girls from the North are more "up for it", shall we say.

Although, I've never visited the US. Come back when you've done over here and give us a field report comparing the differences, OK?

I think one or two on here have had different results to above, even in London.

As Johnny foreigner, even if it were true, for you it doesn't apply.

Suppose you could use the on the street aproach but you might just look like a d1ck, sort of like if you were middle eastern where its normal to argue and barter to get a lower price, if you went in to mac D's in the united states and started it youd look a right d1ckhead....similar is true for cold approach in u.k. why not try to meet some birds online first, many will be intrigued by your being american, warning though.....try not to come off as a big thick american cvnt........

You're allowed to pork girls as young as 16, so don't be hesitant to approach the border lines. :cheer:

start swotting up on British humor fast!

check out, monty python, little britain, phoenix nights, the office, ben elton, blackadder, red dwarf, Peter Kay, fawlty towers, the young ones and bottom.

start understanding sarcasm.

Britain is based around beer & jokes, jokes aren't normally one liners their more situational and can pop up at every other sentence.

if someone says something funny and you take them seriously then you're dooooomed, dooooooooomed I say!

remember women like a man that can make them laugh.

good luck.

picks ups are done in bars and clubs. If you talk to someone on the street they will think you're mad and probably pretend you don't exist.

clubs will be better for you too, less talking more action.

Americans are viewed as being slightly less educated then the rest of the world, for example i've met Americans who can't even point to the UK on a map of the world, think that we use dollars and are amazed that we have McDonald's! to any European that's just insane so you'll need to address that straight away. Americans are also viewed as being loud.

also sort your style out.

white socks pulled up to your knees is a major no-no

if you're wearing shorts then don't wear any socks or if you do use ankle socks.

you're best off with black socks, white socks and dark trousers are a no-no. The women will laugh at you.

stay away from the really baggy stuff.

having your boxers pulled up to your nipples and your shorts low on the hips is a no-no, haha

baseball caps are generally used by chavs, these are the dregs of society, you can see an example here:

http://www.chavscum.co.uk/howto.php

stay away from gold jewelry too.

when going to pubs & clubs, generally people dress up. Shirts, jeans and shoes are normal wear. Don't wear sporting clothes or shorts. most clubs have a dress code.

When going to clubs I'd recommend that you do more than shirt and trousers, I'd recommend wearing a suit, maybe without the tie. Nothing says CONFIDENCE like a suit, in my opinion.
