What industry are you in if you don't mind me asking?
I know people on SS think its ridiculous to make this type of money and some have even doubted it but when you get into tech/finance, sky is the limit. First job listed below is roughly my level of experience but for blockchain engineer (im business) that they're paying up to $1m per year. Second job is the level under me (business operations) and that package is $175k base probably around $230k+ total.

Engineers make way more even at similar level of experience. I can be top of my game and make similar amount of what a lead engineer makes or less. Too many tech companies need hundreds to thousands of engineers and high quality engineers are hard to come by. There's a huge earning differential from top tier engineers from good schools and the rest of the flock. Fresh grad ivy league engineer going to work at google can make $120k + stock, while anything that doesn't make google or big tech will probably get $60k-80k w/o stock.

I have a friend that is making $500k/y as a Staff Engineer working at the co founder of UBER's new startup. He's trying to switch jobs to netflix and get $650k+/y.

$700,000/yr - $1,000,000/yr · Full-time · Director

(Colorado only*) Minimum salary of $175,000 + bonus + equity + benefits.

I have two parallel jobs and careers, I.T. and law enforcement. If I won the lotto today I.T. would be gone but I would still be a police officer part-time. I love it.
