Don Juan
I learned something this week: If she likes you, it doesn't matter what you say or when you say it.
For me this changes the first phonecall after a date from something where I have to worry about saying the wrong thing to simply an IL test.
I had taken a girl out for the afternoon walking along the riverfront boardwalk and for some fried clams. It was a great time but it ended weakly. I got, "it was nice meeting you" and a peck on the lips, but only because I moved in on her to get it. Overanalyzing, I decided the afternoon was too AFCish.
I worried about whether I should wait a couple days or not before calling, what should I say, what do I do if I get the voice mail, etc. My friend told me to "do, not think" and gave me an idea.
I called that next evening and left a voice mail. On that voice mail message I complained that I got her voice mail, then had a fake conversation where I answered her imaginary questions of how I was doing. Then I told her when we would next meet, that she was going to bake something for me and we would watch a movie at home because I think she's cute. I hung up and thought it was the most ridiculous voice mail I'd ever left.
She called back a day later, apologized for not being around and said it was a great idea. My voice mail did two things: It told her what to do to get my attention and judged her IL by her response. No longer will I sweat the timing of a follow-up call because it's simply an IL judgement and not more.
