I know guys, the "looks not mattering" debate has been so over-talked about, but I feel I must share his experience, which I was able to witness.
A buddy of mine is 41. Looks like someone right out of the 80's, someone right out of the 80's "New Wave" alternative British rock scene. Awesome guy. While he's dancing this past weekend at one of the clubs we frequent on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, he see's 3 attractive "trendy" looking chicks, who are dressed a bit on the conservative side. As he's dancing, he reaches out to get one of them to dance with him. She refuses his advances, so he cuts his loss and continues dancing. About 3 minutes later, he starts dancing with some very attractive Korean chick. Now the chick who turned my buddy down, see's this, and now can't keep her eyes off my friend. I keep seeing her whispering to her friends like a little girl pointing in the direction of my buddy with a smile on her face. I swear to friggin' god, all she did the whole time was focus on my friend. She eventually whips her camera out and starts taking numerous pictures of him with her cell phone as he's dancing with the sexy Asian chick. This chick kept flashing away. Seems like all of a sudden NOW she's interested in my friend. Before when my buddy reached out to her to get her to dance, she refused. Now, since my buddy picked-up some hot Asian, now all of a sudden her interest level in my friend goes up. Women are f*ckin' funny man.
Now, I'm assuming his "look"(some women care about looks, but most don't, from what I've observed) in this specific instance had something to do with this chick initially rejecting my buddy..or maybe not, who knows..the point is, she was not initially attracted to him, otherwise she would've accepted his advance. But it turns out, as soon as she seen him pick-up some hottie, she automatically became focused on him.
It could also be said, this chick was just simply "intrigued" by my friend's style and nothing more. Almost like a circus figure on display. But I'm leaning more towards her being interested in him.
