I took my gf on our first date, we went to watch movies and then had icecream cuz we were both not that hungry. However im not sure if i made the right move, I paid for the movie tickets, and she paid for the Icecream. Is that a good move or should i have payed for everything. The movie ticket is much more expensive than the icecream so she didnt spend so much money, i spent more money than her, was this a good move or should i have paid for everything?

Yeah, it seems like you screwed up big time. You should have given her your wallet so she could decide what to buy and how much to spend. Plus you probably had some money left over that you should have given to her. It would have been easier if she just had your wallet.

In my opinion, since it was your first date, you should have just payed for your half. You will get a lot of different opinions on this though.

one date and she's your GF? And no, you didn't screw up. But if that little ditty bothers you so much, I'm sensing that there's a lot bigger screw up well on its way.... we'll just wait til the next date when you give her your balls on a silver platter.

Man, you gotta stop worrying about every little thing. That goes for everyone on these boards... it's really getting rediculous.

I don't think you messed up at all, in fact, i think it worked out good. You didn't pay for everything like most guys do. In fact, she paid for half of the date..her's was just a bit cheaper. Who cares? Unless your really low on cash i guess..

Maybe ice cream is worth billions of dollars in South Africa, which is why he's worried about it.

Uhh, no... we have cheap ice-cream here...

And really shyt ice-cream. Nothing like the ice-cream I had back in Europe. Here in SA all the flavours even taste the same. Yuck.

Marizo.
Heh... well, I wouldn't say you screwed up. Movies and Ice-Cream is a pretty NORMAL thing, nothing to oooh and ahhh about, and very little room for error.

If you really wanna screw up: take her to the most expenive restaurant you can find, order the most expensive meal, hire a singer, then go to the gift shop and get the most expenisve thing you can find. Pay for everything. Then sell your left nutt to pay off your debt.

Come'on, its 2005, the man doesn't have to pay for anything anymore. I say... 50/50 for a date. Seems fair to me :)
