I swear... a suggestion

I'm sure people in the past have brought up the suggestion of removing the swear filter, and I'm sure you have a good reason for keeping it. I know that it doesn't just filter swear words (i remember that a link to a site gets filtered) but if you could remove some words that are commonly used for a few reasons:

1) Everyone usually finds some way to bypass this, so having the filter would just be a nuisance. IMO, not much point in having it, as either way most people still say the word, just misspelled.

2) Messes up some peoples' message when they really aren't using profanity

3) Flame posts are usually closed or deleted anyway, so in regard to the first 2 reasons, certain words being filtered hurts more than it helps.

If anything, an option to turn on/off the swear filter should be made (if possible to do that is)

As I've said before, you don't have to fucking misspell the goddamn swear words if you know what you're doing. Of course, people probably think I'm a dick or an asshole for doing this shit though.

They are cheaters when they get around the filter?
It's equal cheating if you spell the bad words wrong.
Actually it's more (taking filter making old ladys viewpoint) damaging to little childs moral if the words are written even wrong to have them visible. Oh, they must be bad, thinks child.

I don't see really the reason why the filter exist.

I just used those bad, bad words to make my post as clear as possible and easy to understand.

You'll notice that outside of these threads concerning the swear filters, I never use that method to get around them. Instead, I use the morally pure, clean-as-a-whistle, boy-scout method of using a f*cking star in my godd*mn words, and maybe it looks like sh*t when I have a star in the middle of the word "c*nt" or "d*ck", but life's a b*tch and then you f*ckin' die.

I really do not care about this swear word discussion, but your style of replying here is inappropriate.
You were asked, WHY you installed them and you basically replied with "I am God" and chickened out of explaining anything. This is an absolute loser way of discussing things.
Instead, you could have EXPLAINED the reasons, and then said, you will ban everyone, who tries to get around the filter.
Besides, almost any poster has already misspelled nasty words, so if you ban them all, not much will be left of the forum.

But why insist on using swear words? I think the filter might be necessary for someone just coming on this site and reading the posts. It helps to maintain the legitimate reputation of the site. Swearing makes us look like we are unintellegent and that we are just a bunch of immature teenagers who don't know what we are talking about. Because of this, new people would be more likely to disregard the information presented here. Of course it's not going to stop most everyone from using these words and many readers may just overlook them, but I think it would discourage more people from using these words than if the filter is not present.

But I would like to hear his explanation.
