I seriously can't do this anymore. I'm about to lose my mind.

I made the tactical decision to move 20 hours away to literally "little house on the prairie" land to take my first job. I don't mind my job or the coworkers, but the location is starting to take a toll on my body. I'm having stress pain in my lower neck, I'm becoming more radical, and my mind is deteriorating. First, this town is basically for people that grew up here or from Wyoming or Montana where it isn't that much different lol. I'm a cosmopolitan city guy, so I like stuff associated with cities. The closest thing to that here is a Mcdonalds. Also, the closest major city to me is Minneapolis which is a dragging 4-5 hours away which seems like 7 hours away. There's also nobody like me here. It's either families or young people that didn't go to college and work blue collar jobs or home during the summer of college. Either way they all have their own small town cliques and the people up here do redneck **** I would never do like Mudboggin, fishing, and everything.

I haven't gotten laid since I moved here because there's no girls here so I would have to drive 4 hours to see one. I've done this before and it ended horrible, so I won't ever do it again. The few girls I know here are trash, so I have pretty much given up on women here lol. My weekends are filled with me being by myself which gets old after while. My friends and my former slams are bugging me to move back to Tn which is starting to sound more tempting. I wouldn't mind going back to Tn, but I just want to live in civilization again. I also can't afford to really go home because I don't get many vacation days and it is expensive. In addition, I found out that I'm getting underpaid which makes the situation worst. They don't pay much for white collar jobs up here, but they'll pay someone at mcdonalds 15 a hour. My company is family owned, so there's no ladder to climb. You either wait for the guy above you to leave/retire or you work here forever and make money off of yearly raises. It's been around 6-7 months and I was going to give it a year before I considered leaving, but I can't do it. I've already started applying for other jobs, but the job market is still rough and I feel like I'm betraying my company. Idk what to do anymore!!! It is really difficult to get a job out of state in general and I don't even have a year of experience under my belt. I've always dreamed of living in NYC, DC, Seattle, LA, Denver, or Portland, but those cities seem impossible for me to move to.

I think that if you are unhappy, you should then find a way to ease the unhappiness. The unhappiness seems to be coming from your location, then perhaps maybe you should look for a change in location.
It is your life... Your choices, and you have the power to make this choice. Choose to do the thing that makes you happy.
Best of luck to ya.

Have you considered acting or modeling, you do look a lot like Malcolm X in your picture. I still remember watching the movie in H.S (1992 or 1993)., biology teacher was a close friend of his.
That is a picture of Malcom X...

^Which applies to this circumstance well...

If you don't mind me asking, how much are you getting paid?

Doesn't sound promising and doesn't sound like you get paid a lot. I would suggest you start applying for different in big cities. Fit's opportunity you gett you better bolt.

For me I work off different contracts so I can accept or decline contracts. When I get offers for little cities I almost always turn them down. Even if they do pay a lot I don't want to put myself in that position again.

I've worked in a small city in Kentucky once for two weeks and that was horrible. There was absolutely no shorties at all. I couldn't take it and when I went back to Atlanta I made sure if only accept contracts in big cities only exception is if it's just for one week.

Right now I'm in the capital of Connecticut and this to me is borderline a small city.

Good luck to you though, I can definitely tell by your previous posts that your starting to become a little bit more cynical in your thinking.

Sounds like where I would love to move to.

You don't hunt or fish ? Learn. Good opportunity to learn some real man skills.

Give it a specific amount of time and then bolt.

move away to the city and get a job there....

i lived in the city...downtowns. lots of scum to deal with. beggers, robbers, gangs blabla. tons of honeys tho...

man when in rome do as the romans do...try out the fishing and mudbogging and whatever else...be open to life and new experiences. you need to take the initiative and show you arent a douche and can be trusted...eventually the local young college honeys will want a piece or at least a single cougar or some shiz..but obviously this doesnt sound like your ideal situation.

make the best of it until you can make your next tactical move

Exactly! I only have one life and I could die tomorrow. I don't want to screw it up long term though which is why I'm stuck. My body is already stressing out here, so I have to do something.

I don't want to say it on here, but I don't feel confident telling my friends so I add on a couple of grand lol. They all make 10k more than me, have the same major as me, work in corporations, and live in cities. They can also easily relocate to a different location and I cannot because there's only one building lol. In addition, I learned the cost of living isn't that much different up here as well.

Like you, I took the risk and thought I could do it. I think I can say that I gave it 6 months and it's not for me. I've never been to Hartford, but I can see it being bad. The Northeast is only great if you are a tourist or some old money WASP person lol. Atlanta is one of the cities I'm aiming for because I have friends and connections there. Plus, it is a 3 hour drive away from my family instead of a 700 dollar plane trip or 2 day trip.

Hartford is trash but it's two hours from NY and Boston. Also the puerto ricans here are very co-ooperative. But they are also clingy and crazy so I kinda stay away from it all.

It doesn't sound like your job pays well at all. If it doesn't pay well and your friends with the same degrees are making more then you need to be on indeed and monster every single day buddy. Why do they have better jobs with you with the same degree? You need to put your foot down and make a change.

When you have to lie about your money to friends then it's time to get a new gig.

Working at Starbucks in LA is better than making 100K in some trash town in the Midwest.

Just move without a job. I did in 2008, and things worked out perfectly for me. I literally left my job and went to a city where I knew no one.

Since women are so important to you, go to a city that has lots of women. I've said it over and over, move to San Diego. But if you only wanna complain, I can't help.

If you currently have too many women chasing you, calling you, harassing you, knocking on your door at 2 o'clock in the morning... then I have the simple solution for you.

Just read my free ebook 22 Rules for Massive Success With Women and do the opposite of what I recommend.

This will quickly drive all women away from you.

And you will be able to relax and to live your life in peace and quiet.

Good god i don't know how you've managed to stay sane for this long in such a place. I'm surprised you took this job at all in the first place. You really should have known what you were going to get into.

I've been offered all kinds of crazy jobs where I get paid all this money tax free to work in interesting areas but then I realize just how isolated some of these places are, and how few people live there, and that I'd be seeing the same 60 people and same 4 hb5's all day all week all year and I'm like "um no thanks i think i'll pass!"

Start looking for another job before you fall into a depression. Once you start to fall down that hole, it will be extremely hard to dig yourself out of it. I'd rather make much less money in a city where there is a decent nightlife and social scene than make four times more money in the middle of nowhere. There might be things you can do like fishing, hiking, being active in the outdoors but these things can get boring. At least for me anyway. Find a job somewhere else as soon as you can.
I was initially like I might like it lol. You are right, I do see the same people every week and it does get annoying. In addition, I can fish and hike while still living in a city lol.

I have been there and man do I know that feeling!
I recall stopping at a convenience store actually ten miles away from my town and she just looked in awe because I lived in the town that had the *super* W*llm*rt! And for a second, I thought she was kind of cute. There's even a snobbery about the brand of double-wide mobile home you have.

I moved back to my old home-state and big city. I had to.

Fishing and hunting? I'd disagree that it's being "manly." To each their own of course, but in small towns, it's more of a sign of rural life-style.

I would think that with f*ceb**k and all, that it might be easier to connect with somebody. It wasn't around back when I had my stint with small town mentality. Chances are, if you see someone on line... I'd think that they are just as starved for intellectual interaction as well. As far as hooking up with small town women, it's a loss. Once you blow your load, you either appear like a jerk because you want to leave or you are stuck with appeasing someone that rarely if ever uses three syllable words.

For fun, I did an interesting internet search. About a month ago, I searched the personals under the zip code of where I once lived. I searched "no children" "college graduate" and "over 30". No one showed up. I then removed "college graduate" and one person appeared in a 30 mile radius.
In my town (where I live now) , doing the same search as above would provide multiple pages just within my own city.
It'll drive you crazy if you stay there.
Good Luck.

That's how it is. Most of the girls here are straight up trash. Even the more affluent women around town have tats and you can tell they *****d around at dive bars in their days. Plus, they all cheat on their husbands at bars while they stay at home watching their kids. The men here seem manly, but at the same time they aren't lol. Every knows each other and what they have done and do now. I'm not that aggressive around here because you make one mistake then you are screwed. Any person with a college degree below the age of 30 left this place

Location is such an underrated and major aspect of this whole thing, not just game and women but just everything alone, especially the effect it has on your mind. I know from personal experience because I have been there and it literally took a toll on my mind, drove me borderline insane. So glad that I finally got out, moved to a big lively city with more to do and a lot of things going on. Just associating with other people going the same things in life as you is enjoyable and plus, 20-something post grads are a lot less snobby now that they are out of college and tight knit social circles like Greek Life are not as prominent anymore.

One thing I wonder is how you, being a STEM major, ended up in a situation like this.

I've had so many nights when I am out with friends and some girls, wondering what I was thinking all that time alone and how my current situation now is so much better than the one I had to deal with. OP, you are clearly missing out but the one thing I can say is this, you have this Disney view of women and dating to where I fear that not even moving to a big city will solve your problems like it would for most men.

You will be there, maybe you make some friends, go out, see girls being slutty, and then come on here and complain about it rather than getting laid.

While I did PM you some ideas, I also think that this post here can do wonders for you in regards to finding a job.

Give it a read and see which ones you like:

I was asking because I know we did the same major and I'm well aware of what fresh graduates make in the industry out of college. I wanted to see where you fall.

My first job out of college wasn't the greatest but I stuck with it because of the experience.

I make similar to a teacher lol and my friends are making or kissing right at 50k. Was your job not the greatest because of pay or was it a 3PL or just a **** job lol? I hate to say but we didn't get some cozy 50k corporate office job at Deloitte or something because we aren't white lol. I have frat brothers and friends that got hired at places like Fedex with the same gpa and no internship experience. The whole business structure is literally set up for privileged White Americans. I realized if I kept at this industry I was always going to be behind my peers when my drug dealing friend got 50k job at a corporation. It literally struck my ego, but there's nothing I can do about it. He has the same coding experience as me that was on my resume and this mofo got actually got hired. That's why I'm switching fields to IT or something more data analytical based. I actually am doing some coding at my job, so hopefully this helps lol. Hopefully you have a great job making 80k and this proves me wrong:)

Be positive and figure out what you can do about it. If location is a problem and will be change it instead of complaining.

But the job market is unfavorable for me. Should I just keep trying and hope or move without a job lined up?
