I need some legal advice question for my lawyers or potential lawyers on here!

So i'm looking at s felony charge for the first time in my life at the age of 40 for abuse on a elderly person supposedly I did not provide enough care for my mother who has now passed I have spent three days in jail and now have to go before you judge i've been quoted 14,000 to defend my brother and I either that or I go with a public defender wanted to know how many of you guys have been through this and what has been the result?

Public defenders are way overworked and underpaid. They will make you plead guilty under some sort of sucky plea deal where you might end up with a shorter sentence compared to if it went all the way. If you go with a lawyer, you stand a better chance. When it comes to money and liberty, I'd choose liberty and spend the $ 14K. No brainer.

I'm in miami the drugs are lost here are a joke that have been for the last 20 years it took for them at least a decade to get marijuana where it is now
