Just thought I'd chime in here.......

I've been betting at the track since I was 15. Me, my brother and a buddy used to study the programs for hours on end all though high shcool and college. We lived for the track. In my first year in college I bought my first racehorse, and also learned how to train them. I have now trained about 100 horses that I've owned myself, and another 50 or so for other owners. Only difference is all of my horses are standardbreds, or harness horses. Gives a person who isnt 100 pounds a shot to get in the horse business.

I absolutely love being wiht the horses-theyre like my kids if I had any, and wouldn't have traded this for anything. I have recently ebgun racing in other states as Im based in Michigan, and the tracks have really been hurt by the casinos. So I've been racing in other states taht have slots and the tracks and therefore higher purses.

As far as betting, I've mainly stuck with the harness horses, and mainly just bet win. Though I do like betting a 3 over 4 over 5 over 5 superfecta. Costs $54 for half and Ive hit some big payoffs with that. When looking at horses to bet I always look at class, driver, present form, and trainer.

Have more to say about this but have to run, will check back in later............

my dad likes horness racing, says it's easier to handicap, which I believe him.. but I Like to stick with what I know.

Were you at Grate Lakes Downs? I have made a couple of bets there in the past. I stick to Pimlico mainly now. The betters at Fair Grounds and Calder are pretty dumb, so every once in a while I place bets there as well.

I have raced a few times at Great lake downs when they had harness racing, it was known then as Muskegeon Raceway. Pepper ridge won for me a few times there.
