Really? Please tell me you've seen good fellas? Otherwise I don't think we can be friends. haha. Those two are the best. Not much can touch em in the realm of gangster flicks.

I always thought Casino would be an amazing movie if they cut all the relationship drama out of it. I got so bored of all that.

god sharon stone is hot
I agree, but she's even hotter in Total Recall! WOW!!

Joe Pesci in Casino plays the exact same character he did in Goodfellas.

Not that it's a bad thing. Everybody loves that little midget.

I remember talking about all those guys in my history of gaming class when I was in college. Those were the wild west days for the mobsters, before the understood the government had to get their piece. I can't imagine what life in the desert was like then.

Totally awesome film, not 100% accurate but 110% entertaining.

Check out this one I bet a lot of you might not have heard of it even though it's considered a classic now a days and revolutionized film making.

Mean Streets
(1973)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0070379/
http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/mean_streets/ (98% at rotten tomatoes)

Starring a young Robert Deniro/Harvey Keitel. It's about the lower rung of the mafia in the mean streets of New York's little Italy. This is the film that gave them their big break with their awesome performances. It's the film that's been credited for starting the whole street feel type genre movies.

It sort of introduced Martin Scorsese to the world.

Check out the youtube trailer

So after reading this thread drunk the other night instead of watching Casino I went out and bought a copy of Goodfellas. Pretty excited when I found it in my car the next morning.

What's the average payout for a casino? I heard it has to be something like 40%.

It depends on the property and the state/country regulations. In some casinos in Vegas it's higher than 40 percent payout because they're splitting the cost with another outside gaming company and the have alternate means of revenue aside from gaming. In alot of indian run casinos it could be as low as 25 percent because they aren't governed by any one other than their own authority. The same goes for cruise ships.

What about racetracks? Are they subject to the same rules as casinos?

Yes and no. Gaming regulatory commissions typically administer rules for games run by the house to make sure they aren't just taking money from the public with zero chance of winning and to make sure what the house takes is appropriately documented and taxed. If the track has slot machines then yes they are subject to a similar rules as casinos in that respect. If the only form of gambling that is available on at the track is betting on races then the then the rules of hold and payout aren't applicable because they aren't house run games of chance. I'm sure the government has a race authority who has a set of rules and regulations for racing as well (the government is big on taxes if you didn't already know) but it wouldn't be the same as a gaming commission.
