That was disjointed (which reflects scatter-brained), defensive (which reflects insecurity), desperate attempt at social proof at the last second (the name listing for starbucks) with a non-subtle (read: unbelieveable) neg (asking her to tag along).

The only thing that was right was the agreeing to just be friends, but you blew it with all that crap that came afterwards.

Man, don't sweat it. I wasn't that smooth at 17 either. But you should have went with the advise you got, and not improvised.

If he sent her that text, then the bridge is burned. Going only on what I know, he definitely did not deserve this exactly up until the point that he sent that text/email - whichever was the case.
