I got accepted to a college that's a few hours away. My bros went to a college thats pretty close by our house. I don't know if I truly want to go to this College. I could go to community college and transfer to the nearby one. This is a whole new experience for me and in a way its scary. Tips please, similar stories?

well you are probably in senioritis mode right now which while fun is bad.. Just make sure you do all your hws and still study while fixing your sleep cycle. College is a notch harder than high school and if you don't get ready for it now, it might hurt your first semester grades a lot

Did you mean you got accepted to a university that's a few hours away but could go to a community college nearby first? If so do consider the option to go to a community college first as it would be much cheaper in the long run and would save you thousands of dollars.
College education is way overrated and increasingly expensive. It is advised to take the least expensive route possible. Graduates are 30k and more into debt after finishing, and not able to find a job for months some even longer after graduating now a days.

it should be exciting getting away and living on your own, no parents to control you, being able to party all year... education is the best personal investment you can make, your earning will way overcome your debt in the long run , so dont worry too much about "all that bad debt" only people who have never been to uni/fu.cked it up/did a stupid subject liek "media studies" and so cant get a decent job, say stuff like that.
the undergraduate Uni will probably be much "higher" in ratings and prestige than the local CC... so may open many more career possibilities/options to you ...but this also depends on your subject, grades etc...U determine how sucesful you are...
college is a massive learnign and growing phase... and you will grow much mroe on your own, away form parents!
your social life will be 1000's of times better NOT living at home
the economy will have picked up by the time you are finishing so job prosects should be fine

Living home will seriously hurt you in the long run.
College is a time to grow and you won't do nearly as much if you live at home.
The only reason to stay near home is to save money, but the amount of growth one will do by going out is far greater.

Most graduate these days can't even find a job no matter what university they graduated from. The only time that it really matters what university you come from is if you want to be a lawyer. Law firms look at your school background, but most other professions don't care where you graduated from.kingsam said:

You'll learn about life, yourself, much quicker than if you stayed safe and went to a community college.

I always chuckle when I hear people say that moving out of your parent's house or going to college is "scary".
When I think scary, I think of going into battle or being diagnosed with a terminal illness. Things where your life is in danger. There's nothing scary about going to college.
Maybe it's just because I never had a hometown or a childhood/teenage years, so I wasn't leaving anything behind.
