I can't make one that thoroughly mixes the protein with the milk I use. I usually mix 1-1/2 cups whole milk with 50g of Whey, plus lots of Ice. Somehow it ends up measuring to like 3-1/2 cups after blending. I drink this, but usually I get fully BLOATED after I do. At my gym they sell these protein shakes in 16 or 20 oz. can that contain the same amount of protein, just with less other stuff. Anybody have this problem? Thanks.

Consuming large amounts of fiber can give you bloating and gas. That might be your problem. Personally, I don't recommend using protein shakes, because some people use them as a substitute for meals. You can't survive on protein shakes. I only use supplements when I reach a plateau. But you are free to do whatever you want.

I seriously think it's the fiber and whey that's making you bloat up. Try eating different solid foods with your shake and see if it will ease the bloating. This worked for me. Otherwise, I'd say go ask a fitness expert or a doctor.

Sounds like you're lactose intolerant. I have the same problem.. I hardly ever drink milk except if it's in tea or coffee.

Drop it from your protein drinks, and don't use whole milk anyway.. animal fat and milk sugars is a bad combination.

mix w/ water, no milk, no ice
Unfortunately this is the only way I can choke it down.

The real problem is I get these large chunks of whey powder that havent mixed with the milk. Drinking one of these blobs is like eating a turd (in my imagination). If I add more water or milk will the powder dissolve better? Or do I just need to mix it more thoroughly? I use a blender, but I might get a shaker bottle (cant shake the blender) for this exact reason.

Damn right it is =) but actually im not lactose intolerant, I think it's the ice making my stomache contract and feel bloated up.

Im looking for a way to use LESS milk and water and have MORE protein in the drink without any damn blobs! Advice? Experience?

Sounds like bloody terrible protein. What brand is it? Even crappy proteins should dissolve completely in a blender.

Bioplex Nutrition 100% Whey (Chalkolate formula). I also use SynTrax Matrix 5 casein and have similar issues, but that one I usually mix by hand so that could be why. A ten pound bucket of the Bioplex cost about $80.

Just mix it in water, no need for ice or milk. I can't see how a blender doesn't dissolve it though. Don't bother getting a shaker bottle, it won't make any difference. I don't think you're using enough water, double the amount of water you use and it should dissolve better.

If you don't like the taste, tough. Get another brand, buy some flavouring packs, get used to what it tastes like, or just take up needlework instead.

Come on, I have unflavoured whey and it's not that bad. I can drink it down no problem.

You're obviously one of those people who want their protein to taste like chocolate milk .. let's see you take glutamine peptides then.

1) USE WATER, or half water, half skim milk or juice for flavor.

2) go to Target, buy a $20 blender with a 'travel cup' attachment thingy. I assume they still have them, I bought mine there last year. The travel thingy is the right size for 40g protein, an ice cube, and the water. It takes care of the clumping problem, and you can use it for mixed drinks when your date wants them =)
I also drink another 1-2 cups of water with the 40g protein shake to stay hydrated enough. I guess I end up drinking 2L+ of water per day, in addition to other liquids.
