i feel pathetic tellnig fake stories

i know storytelling is a good artform to keep the convo going, but my life isnt that interesting.

for eg. on NYE i was at home playing HALO. should i tell that to the ladies? hell no, i told them i was out partying etc etc. increasing the social proof. but i feel pretty pathetic, how to convercome this?

I have to ask; why were you playing halo on New Year's? I'm going to give you advice, take it or not. You have to decide is this what you want for your life, you want to live your stories but keep it at that stories, not real---not you. Now I'm not saying every story you've told is possible for you to obtain, but living a "cool" life isn't easy to get. It's easy to stay in and play Halo, but if you want to put in effort you could be out partying on New Years and have a real story to tell, but you're going to have to put in effort and stop making exuses why your not out and still playing Halo.
You can do it, just put in the effort and you'll see results.

I LOVE to tell stories... for the purposes of this site I will only tell truthful stories.

In person on the other hand, 90% of my stories are at least 90% accurate... but really what good are the facts without a little bit of the flavour.

Here's an example, if I end up talking to a girl about sex toys, I'll often tell the story of me and an ex going to a sex store.

"I was looking around in this sex store with my gf at the time, and as we're looking around I see this display with a bunch of dildo's on it. So when I walk closer I see this one monstrosity, it was about the shape of a coke can but almost 2 feet long.

I see this thing and pick it up thinking 'holy ****, if ever a girl I was interested in pulled out one of these I'd have to walk away cause I mean even tho I'm not small there's no friggin way I can compete with that.' and then when I was gonna put it back I must have flicked the switch on the thing cause it starts shaking in my hand like a friggin jack hammer... I lost control of the thing and dropped it on the ground when one of the staff heard the thing on the ground...

It takes for staff members piled on the thing to hold it down enough to turn it off... 'Jesus CHrist I thought, asking one of the guys if he sold alot of those...; but I can't believe that a woman can use something like that and have fun with it."

When the actual story was that I was with my gf at the time and walking the isles of the sex shop when I picked up the monstrosity and told my gf 'aren't you glad I'm not hung like this cause I bet you couldn't even fit that in your mouth'

All this to say, not that Phyzzle is wrong in what he's saying, you should feel no qualms about embellishing some of your stories... if you tell it with confidence, you could come up with pretty elaborate stories, that even if people will know how false it is will enjoy it as the entertainment.

Personally I don't think you have gone through very many seduction materials. I'm new to this site, but i have read alot of the methods, and tried some out.

But in nearly every good book i read, they will recommend some form of storytelling. In about 2 months time, when i have internalized and calibrated all of the skills i have learnt, if i was with you competing for a girl, and you went along with the "Honor and Respect" thing, and i went along with proper seduction methods, i would have her number before you introduced yourself.

The whole "Honesty and Respect" thing, it may be a good traite to have with good friends, but women get bored of it. Its too nice guyish. And we all know how women find nice guys boring.

I agree with the people saying tell true stories. Im sure that your life isnt that boring, and that funny things happen to you constantly, just like anyone else.

So you had a crummy new years eve, not every story has to be funny or build attraction. If a girl asks you what you did on New Years Eve just tell her, "I was kinda tired so i didnt really do anything all that great" or something like that.

If you have to lie about stories, it's hard to imagine what else you have to lie about...

I have to clarify my post because of the other comments...

There's a big difference between telling entertaining lies, and adding flavour to the facts of a story.
This is a completely different factor from honesty, I am being completely honest when I tell the story... the facts are still the same facts, it's just the story is made a bit more interesting.

A lot has to be said about the size of your lies. Never lie to make yourself sound good, just lie to keep from looking pathetic. For instance she asked you what you did, you know you were playing Halo, dont tell her you were out partying. Girls are good bs detectors and if shes skeptical it could blow your chances.
examples of small acceptable responses
"I just hung out with some close friends"- this might not even be a lie. I'm guessing you were either with your friends in person or online, but the fact of the matter is its a believable response which leaves room for interpretation. You didn specify gender or what you did, so she really cant make many assumptions. If she pokes deeper just give vague responses

"It was actually pretty dissappointing, I caught a cold and got stuck staying at home and playing videogames. I would have much rather been out partying with my friends"- other than the cold its also mostly true. You would rather be partying (I'm assuming) and your also saying you arent content playing videogames, and she can probly interpret you would have had a chance to do something more fun if you had the oportunity.

The fact of the matter is small lies are often necisarry when your trying to dig your way out of being an AFC. They are necissary to maintain the respect you have. But try to avoid using lies to gain extra social proof, because it often comes out fishy and unnecesary.

Today i was opening a 2 set and i started talking about how i made an ass of myself trying to hitch hike that morning. (Yeah, it was true i did)

They found it amusing.

But, if that hadn't happened that morning, i would have had to rely on canned material.

I think its best to use a mixture of both. Just in case, you know?

the effect of wat u say often comes more from how u say it, then wat u actually say. u will get a greater effect from a story if u tell it ethusiastically and with humor, than if u just mumbled. u could say something as simple as " i sat on the couch" and make it funny. say it interesting, it will be interesting, say it boring and normal, than it will be boring and normal.

try it, you'll see the difference of the effect of ur words. like saying" he killed himself". say it with joy and life, it will sound less sad than if u said "he killed himself..." like he really did and he was ur best friend.
