For some reason I really enjoy the culture of the late 60's early 70's. I mean the attitude that people had back then (or of what I"ve heard and read) and the music. Mainly the music. My favorite bands is like CSNY and Jefferson Airplane. Everyone else my age seems to not really care about that stuff. I mean when I listen to that music, it gives me a sense of relaxation. Everything seems to have went a lot slower and easier (other than vietnam) back then. I'm not really sure if girls are attracted to this, probably not, but I really don't care. I'm not addicted to drugs. I'm not really interested in drugs, I just like the culture. Is this strange for my age?

You're probably just watching too much of The 70's Show...

No matter when you are born another generations culture always looks far more interesting and appealing. You know what they say...the grass is always greener.

You probably wouldn't actually like the culture as much as you think you would. They music is really good, though... Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Van Morrison, etc, etc. My kids like a lot of the 70's and 80's music...they are teenagers.

I guess the grass is greener on the other side. And That 70's Show isn't that good, although I do watch it haha.

Sure the grass is always greener, but sh1t, being a teenager or 20something in the mid-late 60s must've been f*ckin awesome.

You probably would've been drafted and sent to Vietnam though.

You are just talking about good things about those decades. If you were a teenager, most likely your parents wouldn't even let you out at nights. Parents were a lot stricter back then... Most guys who fùcked around and enjoyed life had been sent the fùck away from home when they were like 16.
You didn't have AIDS, but herpes and other STD's were already really common, expecially in the "guys who enjoy life" scene. And I don't care if it's AIDS or another STD, I'd wear a condom, because I don't like both.

The music was good yes, but MTV wasn't there and you couldn't download it. You either had to buy the disc or to wait until it was played on some radio (not a lot, since censorship was stricter than now).

Those decades were OK only for some of us. Just like Victorian England was also an ideal era (if you were gentry).

Today, it's a lot more color blind compared to back in the 50s or 60s. If you were a racial minority, you had it tough back then.
All things considered, I'm glad I missed those couple of decades, but I still think I was born before my time. Maybe if I had been born in the 23rd or 24th century.

Yep, it was...I'm back for a little bit. My best friend passed away August 6th and I guess I need to keep busy. It sucks...

I like it just becasue of the attitudes that people had. Everything was new to people especially music. Something about those times seem to relax me now, but may not have been relaxing if I was there then.

I used to feel the way you do, but now I really despise the stereotypical 60s attitude. The music was fantastic however.

Peace and Quiet

If you currently have too many women chasing you, calling you, harassing you, knocking on your door at 2 o'clock in the morning... then I have the simple solution for you.

Just read my free ebook 22 Rules for Massive Success With Women and do the opposite of what I recommend.

This will quickly drive all women away from you.

And you will be able to relax and to live your life in peace and quiet.

I never judge a decade by the popular music of that decade. It is probably why a lot of people have overly romanticized images of eras that they are way too young to remember. They don't really know what those decades were all about for those who grew up in it.
You can talk all you want about Dylan, Jefferson Airplane, Hendrix, Woodstock, ect...But there was also the Civil Rights Movement, Vietnam, Cuban Missile Crisis, The Moon Landings, The Kennedy Assasination, Watergate....

A lot of these twentysomethings say they are nostalgic about the 80s. But their knowledge of the 80s is mostly Prince and Madonna. I am actually a child of the 80s and never did care about those two. There was of course music I did love from the 80s, but that wasn't all the 80s were about for me.

If you don't appreciate THIS culture, you'll be regretting you missed out on TWO, maybe more different styles, cultures, and times.

I agree with Yotsuya-san about how it wasn't all about the music. I'm aware of all the things that went on during that time from school. But like the moon landings, it was new and I mentioned above of how everything was new to people. But back to the music, I can 't link music of today with music from then. The lyrics and the way that it was sang is totally different. I think that today the lyrics and meanings of songs are concrete, meaning anyone can understand the point trying to be made by the artist. Then, someone like Grace Slick singing "White Rabbit" or "Greasy Heart" tends to make the listener use their imagination more. I think that people nowadays areen't using there imagination as much and that to me anyways seems to be not a relaxing state of mind. I mean if we could use our imagination and make our own worlds, then we can enjoy life better. I'm not saying block our reality, cause thats stupid I mean I'm in college and have to face reality everyday. I'm just saying to ME music from the late 60's is more enjoyable to listen to. By the way I am aware that White Rabbit and lot of Jefferson Airplane's songs are based upon LSD trips and thats why to some people it may seem stupid and doesn't make any sense. But I can relate to the lyrics without doing drugs. Course I also have a strange romantic like imagination.

Ya if I was to be reborn I would loved to be born as a Roman during the height of the Roman Empire. I would gladly join the Army and die for my country since there was honor and glory back in those days! and there were only men back then not any AFC and all that BS. Or I would have loved to be a cowboy and be a bounty hunter cuz everyone knows COWBOYS ARE THE SH*T!
